I think Dell could improve participation on the site by creating a VIP level for highly involved members.  It would have to be more than just a title in order to be a proper motivator.  One perk could be having Dell create a new section of the site called "suggested ideas" where every month VIP members could each suggest 2 ideas they think deserve addition attention by the community.  This could be a way to give attention to older ideas that may have been missed.  Feel free to add any other VIP perks or what you think the criteria for VIP status should be in the comment of this idea.

    This is nice idea and could work , but only when VIPs were meritoriously evaluated. It would be plain stupid if anyone had VIP badge and decide about ideas without any background in idea TYPE.

    Example: If we have two VIPs that have B.A. in Economy - then - they specialty and they miniboard are ideas in section (Advertising and Marketing, Sales Strategies) 

    This way there will be some good reason why those people can "bring ideas from backgroud to higher attention" or mark them as "more visible".
    If VIPs will be choosen omitting merits of their specialty (or without it at all) then this idea won't give us 'correct asessement' and will not improve anything.

    It all depends on if its leaked to the public that their is a discount. Without it being leaked you can expect 3-4 powerusers to basically moderate or offer their own take on ideas in comments. Possible adding more quality ideas just because their is now an incentive.

    On the flip side though, if it was leaked to the public it will lead to spam and an increase of bad ideas but some quality ones will come from it. The VIP would have to not go via Activity Points but instead a reward system for good ideas or else we would see an insane amount of spam in comments and lack of caring in upvoting/downvoting.

    Another possiblitiy is to send loner or pre-releases units to 'VIP' users so they can offer their ideas on the products. Example: If I only have an XPS Laptop I can't really offer my any ideas on the Inspiron or Alienware Lines.
