Annoying hardware configurations on new XPS range

The only thing that is stopping me from ordering your new XPS 15 laptops is your ANNOYINGLY STUPID HARDWARE CONFIGURATIONS.
Nvidia 435M 2GB....!! are you serious...?? that card doesnt have enough power to use 1GB of memory effectively and you are throwing 2GB at it.....plus if i go for the 435M i have to upgrade my CPU to i7-740QM (again why on earth did you skip a i7-720QM option) which further increase my cost unnecessarily and i have to let go the Nvidia OPTIMUS tech also which should have been highly useful for conserving my laptop's battery.
Also why have you not included cards like 445M and 460M as upgrades is out of my common sense.you could have had a killer laptop in the form of XPS 15 if it was not for your STUPID HARDWARE CHOICES. It may get you more money (as the users opting for a 435M also have to take i7-740QM) per laptop but it will also drive away some aware users like me.learn some lessons from ASUS on matching hardware configurations. I hope you take this seriously.

    @ruserious Looks like no plans to go with the GT 555M on XPS 15 at this time. Not sure exactly why, but we do have that GPU on Alienware.

    you are right on track. I just have 2 points to make:
    1) Don't go for Nvidia's lower 500M series GPUs. Go for something which can handle gaming at 1920 x 1080 (like GeForce GT 555M)
    2) I would love to see the similar configuration in XPS 15 as soon as possible (please dont skip it on XPS 15)

    OK. I want to go ahead and mark this one as implemented. I want to make sure everyone, especially the OP, is good with that. See Lionel's first update from CES. I think the bullet points about XPS answer everything in this idea, but please point out where I am off base.

    New XPS 17 Laptop:

    • CPU i3/i5/i7 Sandy Bridge Dual core and Quad core
    • The i7 version now supports Optimus, unless configured with the optional 3D FHD panel – this uses the discrete GPU full time
    • Wide FHD WLED display (1920 x 1080 resolution) option
    • Configurable with the latest NVIDIA 500 series mobile graphics
    • The i7 Quad core supports Wi-Di  and can stream up to 1080P
    • The XPS 17 supports the full Stage experience on all panels
    • Now features the popular chiclet keyboard
    • All the other great enhancements the XPS line offers, like A Skype HD certified webcam, JBL speakers and Waves Maxx audio
    • Pricing and availability: starts at $1,449 available on February 1, 2011 (that date will vary by region)

    Intel's Sandy Bridge and Nvidia's 500M series both are out. I hope to see the combination of a Sandy Bridge CPU with HD3000 (not HD2000) and Nvidia's 500M series with OPTIMUS tech (preferably a GeForce GT 555M) in the near future.

    Probably many of us do not buy these laptops, because the week graphics. Hopefully Sandy Bridge CPUs will be peared with something much stronger...

    Thanks for your post. Stay tuned for the mid-life refresh coming early 2011. I suspect there will be new GPU/CPU options.
