Dell should open a retail store very similar to the Apple store. I know that they have small kiosks inside malls that they try to sell Plasma TV's and a couple laptops next to a guy selling knock off sunglasses and verizon cell phone sales sharks! Very unprofessional. Open a classy Dell Store and offer Tech support right in the store just like the Genius Bar in the Apple Store.

Yes Dell should a store because they have other things besides computer, and tech support is a must have if not then they should not do it. Hope they do and put inside malls, start over here in California then NY just to see how it goes. Come on people need jobs and everytime I go to bestbuy or staples they seem to have nothing to do because not many people want to buy computers from them, because their track record.

I think its better for DELL to go on already established BIG retail stores than to start off with their own version of DELL "only" stores. I agree that it would be hard for it to work for DELL as opposed to Apple. So, by selling them on big retailers you get the issue of trying a product before buying it settled and at the same time you dont get into the deep hole that DELL own retail stores would mean. Sure you wont have the quality of sales representatives that you PROBABLY would have on a DELL branded retail store, but you would cover most of the issues stated here. And it looks like dell has already made up their mind and are starting to move into the big retail store market.

Yeah, I can't touch it on the website. And the kiosk doesn't let you walk away clutching your new purchase after seeing and touching it.

I strolled by a kiosk in a mall once. Seems pretty pointless. You can't actually buy from a kiosk.

i know that .chris but i honestly think as do a lot of customers the kiosk are a very valuable asset to the Dell in general if anything they should incorporate the same exact idea and principles and put inside the store just like the idea i stated a few comments above this one

Well the kiosks were not the reason Sales Tax came back its because Dell had no choice but to put it on there because of some stupid law the national government past but i have said it once and ill say it again just look out for those tax free weekends that a lot of states are having.... thats when i bought my Dell and yes it does take a little work because it is almost identical to a mail in rebate........

Yeah, I remember when Dell opened a kiosk in my state. Having to pay sales tax hurt my feelings.

I have never associated Dell with a store, I have only ever dealt with Dell via the internet and their website, thats all they need, or thats all they've ever needed with me, and I order more computers per year than you will use up in a lifetime. Dump them both, but that vote is not an option, mote or demote you end up with a store or kiosk. I'll demote but only to say no to both.

I think the store idea is good in a way because Dell could showcase all the models there. It's nice to see a product before buying it. I go to the Sony store(gasp!) and Apple store(boo!) once in a while to check things out. The kiosks are nice but too cramped for me and everyone trying to get a look so you can't take your time.

I like the apple store and hate most kiosk stores. i dont have an apple, probably wont buy one in the near future, but I know their stores have lots of mac stuff i can play with and plenty of apple people to help when i have questions - no pressure. I fully agree - Dell stores, no kiosks
