I have an Idea for a non profit organization structure. It involves a little more mature technology to reduce costs. But a lot can be done already. It starts with creating a virtual draft that can be presented as a plan. Then implementing it can be organized and prioritized.
The goal is uplifting people out of poverty using investment in an entire infrastructure of a local society and using excess wealth that becomes available to pass on the favor to others in poverty. There are many ways to create a wealth producing infrastructure. For example it is now possible to create hydrocarbon fuel like gasoline and diesel out of biomass and rubish. You can even create petrochemical products like plastic and such. Combine that with biosphere greenhouses and automated manufacturing that is self maintained one can concieve of a way to produce a difference.
There is definately areas in the world that resist intervention.  North koreans would be difficult to reach for example because of being closed in politically. But there are many places that are aplicable. Even rich countries could use communities that provided for those that would otherwise be without.
