Are you really phasing out the M11x? If yes, congratulations, Dell. You have finished your mission to kill Alienware's reputation for innovative products. Clevo laptops already have backlit keyboards with varying colors, similar specs to AW, better price, and MUCH better screens.
The M11x was the only innovative product in Alienware's lineup. As we, IdeaStorm members, have repeatedly said, all it needed was an actual screen (as opposed to the current mirror). I was crossing my fingers for a proper screen in the M11x R4, now that ultrabooks are increasing the demand for such screens.
Instead, you decide to stop making Alienware's most innovative and unique product. I guess I'm getting a Clevo NP6110.

Just a heads-up: there is a petitoin asking for an M11x R4 or a hypothetical M12x:http://www.change.org/petitions/dell-alienware-create-an-m11x-r4#
If you are also disappointed that Alienware stopped offering a portable gaming machine, please sign it and tell your friends about it.

I really want the Alienware M11x back. It was a powerful computer in a small package. It was everything a travelling gamer needed. I would happily spend 2000 AUD for a new Alienware M11x R4Jun 2, 2012 Comment Link

Dear Alienware/Dell,I've got $1500 ready to spend on my next m11x. It's been in the budget since January. I'm waiting for an Ivy Bridge refresh so I can update from my m11x R3 which is my favorite laptop of all time!!!
But alas, there is no update. There is no continuation of the most influential market leading Alienware product (in my view).
By the way, that means there is no $1500 for you and I'll just have to go buy a Macbook Air or something else. I'm not buying any of your other options, I've seen or tried most of them, and I've made up my mind. I want small form factor portability, power to handle almost anything, and awesome battery life (6hrs+ unplugged doing work). The m11x has it all. Give it to me in an R4, PLEASE.
Sincerely,
Formerly happy, now disgruntled, m11x owner.

Agree the m11x has the market almost to itself for high performance ultra-small gaming laptop. There is nothing wrong with the current m11x but the components need a refresh.Dell and Alienware are not doing themselves any service by removing this from their lineup.
HOW-ever. I would not personally go for a m11x. It's is an insanely cool little laptop, but i'd go for the m14x instead for gaming on the go. It's the perfect blend of smallish form factor, but very good gaming components. And it has a disk drive slot option, a major plus.

I don't want that form factor to disappear, may be increase it to 12.5". Discontinue it with the Intel chip, but add the best mobile Trinity processor (the normal voltage version only) and call it the Alienware whatever . The integrated graphics should allow some low level gaming. The Alienware has excellent cooling. You do get a decent laptop with a backlit keyboard, battery life and the AW badge which should perform adequately.Apr 20, 2012 Comment Link

@MeanwhileinAmerica: it's not only at Engadget. Pretty much everyone is baffled at Dell's decision. For example, here's the appropriate thread at the NBR forums:http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/657896-m11x-phased-out-sorry-guys.html
In 24 hours, 7 pages of posts criticizing Dell's decision.

SERIOSULY!!!! I came here after seeing the article on engadget. The m11x is the forefront in portable gamingAll you had to do in order to increase your sale son the product was listen to the dang community. I feel ignored, and now even humilated. The m11x R4 was going to be a day 1 purchase for me.
Looking for merely a few hours researching the laptop the m11x in its revision needed
Better Screen (possibly matte option) please just 1600x900 is all i ever wanted! I have 1366x768 on my 11inch laptop from 2008, 1366x768 looks disgusting on 14inch laptops anyway and you know it.
Bigger keyboard (look at lenovos!) I have a 97% scale keyboard on my 11inch lenovo that i cna type faster on then my desktop. Screw the chicklets keyboards people show nobody likes it!!!!!!
Flip the RAM and the Hard drive to eliminate heat under the WASD keys. No gamer likes sweaty hands.
THe killer Wireless card is a neccsity and I would have bought it on the r4 as transfering large games via wireless is alot of bandwidth. Now isee it isn;t even availble on the m14x. [redacted]!??!?!
The m11x was a freak of nature and thats what made it great. It would have been in a market of its own with no competitors. The dream for this market is a fully funcitoning gaming PC almost the size of a handheld, which no other company is holding back to accomplish with no compromises, Espcially, your rivals, Razer.
Please, stop alienating your fans. Your fans are people that want to game on the go. Some prefer the go more than the gaming and your product line has to show that product!
