Promote

Make a laptop that loads the batery with a solar cell.
Very simple if you put it at the top of the cover.
This can be optional, just added to the normal power line.

    This would be viable if solar technology had evolved in the last 40 years.  Unfotunately there are too many idiots in the scientific community running around trying to keep it the way it is.  Panels, parabolic dishes, coving - they're all exactly the same and ultimately useless if you want them to be small, but collect up to 240 volts!

    The only way solar technology will be useful in the electronics industry is somebody tears down the current rubbish and rebuilds it from the ground up.  Guess that'll be me...

     Nice idea, except that laptops are usually hidden in a padded case when not in use.  Also probably not a good idea to leave your laptop in direct sunlight (eg parcel shelf in car).

    I did a little searching and anything that can sufficiently charge a laptop battery can get rather pricey. A good idea if offered as an optional accessory.
