An XPS400 that comes with a Pentium D 940 processor is able to process either 32-bit or 64-bit data, however I was surprised to learn that Dell does not have any drivers that are compatible with the 64-bit capability of this processor - seems very short sighted to me.  What is up with Dell - VERY poor support for what it sells!

Typically Dell supports the operating system that was shipped with the system. Did you have a 64 bit Operating System when you purchsed the XPS 400?

Well like the Dell xps 13 ultrabook drivers, Dell did patch an trackpad driver making it more enhanced and improved.  I got a 64bit laptop and HP does provide drivers if I reinstall windows 7.

I think that it might take time before Dell does a patch if anoyed, one good thing would be to contact them and leave the rest to them.

    Hope I helped.
