Problem with the location of USB port & power port on Dell Studio

Hey,

I have been using Dell Studio 15 for the past 18 months, since it was launched in India.

One thing I noticed is that power port and the USB port next to it are too close to each other. When the laptop is charging, it is difficult to connect some of the commonly available USB devices. This is not the problem with my laptop alone but also with the latest laptops which are being shipped (Dell Studio 15).

It would be great if the spacing between the power port and the USB port are slightly increased. May involve a slight redesign of the motherboard, but it would be worth it. It would a long way in terms of usability.

See the image below, to see what I am referring to.

Increase the spacing

Regards.

@ideasearcher Would you prefer that I delete this and the 4 comments above this one, and just answer your release date question?

I took the time just like anyone else takes the time to post on this site that is here for idea posting, but I am the only one being told they are annoyed, so something is not quite right here, but you are Dell so you can do what you want to do

@ideasearcher Nope. Not in the least. I only used the word annoyed because you took the time to post an idea about marking ideas as implemented with wording that suggested we are marking them this way to make ourselves look good. Perhaps I jumped to a conclusion, but I took that as an insinuation of our having an alterior motive, which is not the case, but would understandably be annoying if it were. Apologies for that. Will not assume again.

    *Correction*

Annoyed? You appear to be the annoyed one.

@ideasearcher Some were released after the post and most before, so your point on your idea is taken. I changed the status of the idea. I am just curious, is this the only post you recognized as questionably marked as Implemented before posting your idea? If not, please provide links to any others that have annoyed you, and I will be happy to review and change the statuses as appropriate.

The latest platform releases for Inspiron, Inspiron Mini, and XPS have different port locations. There are no USB ports located near the AC-in ports. One possible exception is the XPS 14, which has an optional antenna-in port located close to one of the USB ports. All 3 XPS systems have microphone jacks close to one of the USB ports, but since most microphone plugs are fairly thin, it may not be a problem for most users.
