Taking into account the retina display introduced by the new macbook pro, the expectations from dell have also become higher and now it is high time that higher screen resoutionls be introduced at least into the 17 + inch screen laptops of dell . This resoultion of 2880*1800 pixels will perfectly suite the likes of alienware M17x and M18x and also dell's highly anticipated laptop dell XPS 17z which is expected to be a 17.3 inch high performance ultrabook. It is time that the conventional screen resoutions like 1920*1080 pixels be replaced with the above mentioned higher screen resoutions for a better viewing experience.

Why the heck wouldn't you? I want to see more.  The MBPr proves win7 and definitely 8 can handle the high res.

CAD work on the XPS17 can benefit from the highest resolutions possible.

The glossy finish looks good in certain situations, but frequently it is hard to view due to glare and reflections.  A removeable filter could help - if designed to fit the laptop and be carried easily.  I can envision a laptop that unfolds like a tri-fold wallet.  The filter is inside when the laptop is closed and flips over behind the screen when open and unused.  It would need to be held in place when unused, so it didn't flop around.

can be done on a 14 inch lappy too !! Apple is doing it on 15 inch !! But my point of this idea is that FHD ( 1920*1080) displays have become very monotonous and if I were to pay $2000-4000 for a laptop ( whether it is alienware or XPS ), I would wan't a display that is worth that price !!
