I read that Dell is busy developing new generation of “touch screen” laptops for Windows 8. What about combining two touch screen laptops (actually two of their screens/"one piece" laptops) into a “dual” laptop. One could serve as a cover and/or keyboard for the other . They could be joined in whatever fashion is considered the best (hinges ?, slide-in joint ? ball joint, etc) and along shorter/longer/ whatever side but could also be separated into two independent one piece/screen laptops. And connected with a cable if required? The idea could also be applicable to pads like IPads. Not a new idea???

Just to clarify. This idea is not a part of the Project Sputnik Storm Session about the developer laptop. IdeaStorm accepts ideas on Dell products services and operations. When viewing the list of ideas the ones posted as a result of a Storm Session will be identified with either the title of the Storm Session or a link to join the session. In order to see only ideas for a particular Storm Session you can follow the link at the top of the page to see all the sessions and then click on the one you are interested in. I think it is a very bad idea for a developer laptop. It may seem very cool at first, but consider this:- developers spend most of their time typing
- good typers don't look at the keyboard, they rely on muscle memory and touch
- extra screen and touchpad means much worse battery life
- extra screen means the thing becomes heavy
- non-standard setup means there would be problems with different Linux distributions
- non-standard setup means that the developers can't easily test their applications in environment similar to what their users use
