High Current USB power plug on Laptop AC Adapter

Most Personal Communication devices such as Smart Phone, Tablet, Mifi 4G gateway can utilize USB port to charge.

It would be great if Dell start incorporating 5V USB power outlet in Laptop AC Adapter that support 3-4 devices for charging.

Many laptops' USB port does not support the USB Power requirement of modern tablet.  For example, an iPad requires at least 2 AMP.  

It would be great if we can eliminate standalone chargers for mobile devices by plugging into a High Quality / High Current AC Adapter for my Dell laptop !

    expatinasia - I own 2 ipads - yes they use the Apple 30 pin usb cable to get their daily charge.

    So I agree with you that there is no USB port on an ipad for you to plug in a USB drive, but the only official way to charge an ipad from Apple is via a special cable that plug into an USB port capable of supplying 2 AMP of current.

    In fact, I recently purchsed a couple surge protectors with USB ports.  I can plug my various devices directly into surge protectors.  It would be nice if I can do that using a laptop power adapter while I travel.

    While it doesn't have a USB port, it does charge via USB to iPad adaptor. Even the plug that connects to the wall outlet is via USB.

    An iPad does not have a USB port and cannot be charged via a USB port.
