Build a pc just for kids.
As a mother of two young primary school children I find that there is an enormous amount of pc games for my children, but I do not want to grant them access to my pc as they would possibly destroy any information or programmes that I may have on it. At the same time they are too young to use the internet or "eral" programmes. Can Dell build a kids pc, which would give them the speed necessary for the so-called skills games, the screen for optimum view especially now that you are venturing into different colours (soemthing all kids love). There is no need for internet connection, but you must be able to play a cd and/or dvd on it.

I'm still waiting for a $300, 12" screen, sealed laptop. That would do nice for kids too.Oct 7, 2008 Comment Link

The main feature I'd want in a kids computer is spill-proof keyboards and mice. Regarding the color, my kids seem to like one that looks "like daddy's". Surely you could give them access to your PC so long as they don't have "administrator" access, tho. At 3 my kid knew how to find his own account and log in with his one-character at the time password; so he couldn't destroy any of my information.Oct 7, 2008 Comment Link

I think Dell's new Mini 9 running Ubuntu Linux might be a good start. It is inexpensive, you can plug an external DVD drive into it, and it "kid sized". http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-inspiron-9
