I am doing my Phd in Marketing at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
I was working on my summer project when this idea struck me.
I have been using Dell laptops since 4 years. But its popularity is only among the
well educated and tech savy consumers. Dell needs to cater to the huge chunk of the
untapped segment in India and the rest of the South East Asia.
Dell certainly needs a strong ad campaign to do so. Being a fan of Dell i want Dell to
be the leader in laptops and other gadgets.
I thought of this tagline.... "Just DELL with it".
See if it consistent with the brand image and goes well with the current campaign.
I will be glad to hear from you and even happier if I suddenly see this tagline on the tevevision..
Cheers
Kapil

I think it might actually be best for Dell to return to the campaign that featured the tagline "Dude you're getting a Dell" like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7wfHStzm24. It hasn't been on the air for years and I still remember it.This campaign was memorable and appealed to the market of college students buying computers for classes.
Also, a certain "brand nostalgia" has been popular recently. Wendy's revisited their insanely popular "Where's the Beef?" campaign this past year with a revamped spokesperson and delivery.

It is inexpensive to revisit old ideas and it reminds long time Dell owners of their loyalty while also appealing to a new, younger crowd.

But a tagline like "Just Dell with it" only makes sense to english speaking generally well educated and tech savvy consumers. If the intention is to market it to the rest of the crowd then it needs to be in a local language.May 23, 2012 Comment Link
