I think that Vista was a pretty bad idea in the MiniNote, as evidenced by the really slow startup times compared to XP on an SSD.Oct 19, 2008 Comment Link

msheridan: Not only that, the HP's graphics configuration can handle advanced graphics like Aero, and you can get it with Windows Vista.Oct 13, 2008 Comment Link

Dellitout, Do you have both where you can do a direct comparison or are you an HP mini-note owner only? Dell's build quality and warranty support are far superior to all of its competitors which makes it the best bet as far as I'm concerned, and the Dell keyboard is more than just a shrunken laptop keyboard, it's a well thought out compromise. Mini-note is great I'm sure and you can expect it to stay great for about the length of its one year warranty. My Dell Mini has a 3 year warranty and I expect it will still be great long past that.Oct 13, 2008 Comment Link

The Dell mini is NOT a UMPC to counter HP's mini-note. It's just a standard-fare Atom-based netbook. It's comparable to models from other companies, just priced more. Mini-note still has FAR better keyboard and higher res screen and metal housing.Oct 1, 2008 Comment Link

Come on, At the low end -- its close (but the HP keyboard is much bigger and better from what I can tell). But the HP can be had with 2GB RAM, 160 GB @ 7200rpm HD, Gigabit Ethernet, and is metal.Sep 13, 2008 Comment Link

Wow. Fully stacked Ubuntu with CompleteCare and it's $817 - I'm impressed. Not in the market for such a thing, but it is very interesting.Sep 5, 2008 Comment Link

I have to wait for a while to get Ubuntu on it, and then it's a horrible spec. (Though at a nice price)Sep 5, 2008 Comment Link
