The technology is out, Bluetooth has demostrated to be a reliable and fast way to transmit data. D-Link even has a bluetooth printer adapter that sells for $99. Why not make a photo/laser printer with a built-in bluetooth adapter.?

Less cables, less weight for shipping, less space for packing and ability to share the printer without having a network (and a print server) setup.

Just wanted to update this issue: current industry trends are to support wifi and cloud-based printing over bluetooth as this gives much greater flexibility for multiple users and a far better user experience, especially when transmitting larger print jobs such as photos.

Dell has an Android printing app out now (direct download) with support for many printer models current and pas, and we now support AirPrint on a number of printers with more to come in the future.

    Thanks

Have you seen the new Wasabi?  It's a small photo printer and not all-purpose, but it is bluetooth and can be connected to your phone or blackberry...

The disadvantage of this is that we are already using wireless for so many different signals, and the more wireless communications we use, the less healthy we become. There are temporary and permanent health effects that can occur because of exposure to wireless radiation. A printer stays in one place, so I don't really think we need to use it wirelessly.

How far out does bluetooth reach. I currently use a network hard drive and plug my printer into the usb port in that to add it to my network.
