For heaven's sake just add ThunderBolt ports to compete with Apple

Regardless of the current lack of ThunderBolt apps buyers of high end computers (Dell'shigher profit margins) will keep switching to macs.  People like me want to future proof our buying - I really want to stay with Dell but this lagging behind Apple is getting ridiculous.

    Samuel, people like musicians  need Firewire and soon will likely need ThunderBolt - it's not a matter of Apple's SSD drives.

    Apple only needs firewire because they will provide small SSD drives and will require fast access to external drives.

    They probably charge an arm and a leg for liscences and it's not really worth it.
