1) Brands like Apple and Alienware definitely beat Dell when it comes to COOL looks.

2) Now that Dell has acquired Alienware, its more easy to offer cool designs to EVERYBODY.

    I have always found dells styling to be very attractive. The Gen 1 xps had the quicksnap, the M170 and M1710 had the cool red backs, the M1730 has the sweet carbon fiber look. I find the more recent inspirons very sharp looking, I like white. The latitude series isn't the best looking, but it isn't supposed to, durability and cost efficiency are the forte there. I say avoid gimmicks like ultra thin, and stick to ultra durable. As for the desktops, I really like the Optiplex 320 style, and the Slim Vostro 200's, I have personally used both and love the style. The inspiron desktops have a conservative look, but fancy show off will scare away some of the older buyers that are looking for just a computer. Just my 2 cents.

    My computers live on the floor under my desks. I like them rectangular and gray. Important attributes for cases are robustness, ease of opening, plenty of drive bays and flat top surfaces. Aesthetics are at best irrelevant. Crazy, curvy, "designer" aesthetics are not wanted.

    yes PLEASE. more ones like that xps desktop system you had. and for the record, i hate the word sexy being used about everything under the sun. A beautiful woman is sexy. Lingere can be sexy. A really amazing car maybe can be sexy. a computer cannot be sexy. It can be cool or beautiful or awesome or sleek. But it has nothing to do with sex. And if it does... well... close your door.

    I used the word "sexy" in a post title a few months ago in regards to a similar subject - it was reported as offensve and deleted. Dell does not like sexy.

    have you seen the pictures of the new inspiron laptops? They look bloated. I will say I like the Latitudes, the new XPS 13.3" and the 521c. I should have been more specific.
