In addition to storage space in your Dell, perhaps Dell should host an extended online storage system to let customers keep their important documents. This could eliminate customer's fear of losing their data.

Dell do have some offering of online backup, ie. 1GB or so.. But it is not realistic for current internet bandwidth, if everyone have a 155Mbps then it could b possible to back up you 250GB of hard disk of data. Also by having a huge data storage and also dont forget the super fast internet connection will surely increase the cost of keeping things running at Dell Question is, are you uwilling to pay more?!Jun 27, 2007 Comment Link

Well, given enough bandwidth, online backup is very practical indeed.Jun 25, 2007 Comment Link

Online backup, seems. weird. imagine having a 200gb hard disk crammed with. videos and other stuff. that's a lot of data traffic you'd have. I recommend setting up a RAID instead if you fear your hard disk might crash. perhaps make a local backup of the most important files every so n then.Jun 24, 2007 Comment Link

Encrypted, with a locally generated key! I code for a company which would not find it acceptable to have my data hosted somewhere remote unless it were encrypted by a locally generated key.1 2 Next
