Direct2Dell is wasting energy buffering videos automatically

Why does the Direct2Dell site automatically buffer every video on a web page? This is a complete waste of energy and slows load times for the page when there are several videos posted. Make it more like youtube where you click on the video and then it buffers.

Aww, shucks.  No need to mention my b-day, it will just add to badblood thinking I get preferential treatment.  I also see I will have to add another idea to my list to be tagged in a couple of weeks.  I'll be out of town next week for the holidays but I'll try to pop in when I get a chance.  Then again with the snow mounting the plane may not have a safe place to land

The only one I see is from the 5th.  Unless you mean that you had marked SOME of the ones I identified as Implemented/partially Implemented?  If that is the case my above comment still applies that you have more to mark (around 6 more if I remember correctly).

You still have a few more to mark.  My birthday is tomorrow and it would make a great gift.  :)

Correct - we have moved all our videos to YouTube.  You can find the Dell YouTube channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/dellvlog?ob=4

I know you've been busy Lionel. ;) I like your plan, thanks for responding. I do have one complaint about Direct2Dell though since I have your attention... Why doesn't anyone from Dell respond to direct questions since they have to read them and approve them before they get posted to the site. I'm not talking about just you but the ideastorm section as well. here are some links to 2 posts with questions waiting for answers. http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/12/24/39585.aspx#comments http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/11/30/36937.aspx

jervis961: I just responded to your comment on D2D from way too long ago: http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2008/01/11/40971.aspx#41628 Sorry about the delay. I touched on this idea about not autoloading the Flash videos. Bottom line, I had checked on this shortly after we introduced a new video player for D2D last year. It will take some custom work. Soon, we're going to formalize this process on how we deal with enhancements. It should help us plan longer-term for D2D enhancements. This issue will be one of the high-priority enhancements I'll ask for. When I know more about what's required and a timeline that's realistic, I'll share it here.
