please feel free to post comments and help grow the idea and if you dont like my grammer then you can fix it lol
I think it would make more sense to contribute the drivers to the Open Source community and let them incorporate the drivers into the existing repositories. It would be much easier for the users if the drivers were included in the default repositories they were already using. This also helps with the adoption of Linux as new users are not as likely to know where to look for drivers.
No, I'm not saying I don't like the Dell site. I'm saying:
1) For Windows drivers: It's a GOOD IDEA to put the drivers for the hardware Dell sells in a Dell-run repository, be they for Dell branded or third-party hardware.
2) For Linux drivers: Probably not required as such drivers either come with the distro or are available from the Distro's repositories.
Agh, so you don't like the Dell website then, is that what you're saying? There will never be a one spot for all drivers, considering the plethora of OS's and each ones hate or anti-association with the other.

No word from dpini, idea is rather weak in substance. Can you add to it? Or is everyone wishing for something on a separate site that won't happen?Jun 29, 2007 Comment Link
