It's GREAT that Dell finally listened and began to offer for-pay LOCAL support.

But to FAIL to offer that for home ./ home office lines of machines remains a HUGE flaw.

CORRECT IT, Dell!

Good point. I guess I will leave it as is for now, but if it does get added to the configurator I would like to see credit go where it is due- to phubert.

That's up to phubert but wouldn't it look silly since the idea was "closed"?  Voting has been blocked for a while and very few people will actually find it if you reopen it.  Just my 2 cents..

@phubert and everyone else- Do you mind if I change this idea status to Under Review. I ask because the idea has kind of evolved (in my head anyway) from "offer paid domestic support" to "put paid domestic support offerings in the system configurator," which is the piece that is under review.

Just got a note back from the manager who is looking into our upgraded support offerings and the online configurator. She will let me know after her team has looked into adding Your Tech Team packages to the configurator, and I will post back the reply.

@phubert No, it's not in the configuration page. I will follow up with the appropriate teams to ask why it's not. Pre-Configured OptiPlex 780 Desktop Business-class Performance starts at $1,039. "More Power" Inspiron 580 desktop starts at $599.99. Core2 Duo is on the Optiplex and Core i3 on the Inspiron. Same or less hardware on the Optiplex with a higher price. I guess you could say the warranty cost is built in to the base cost, or you could look at it as offering flexibility to home users. It is clear on the consumer side, price is a key factor to attract customers, moreso than on the non-consumer side. The Your Tech Team option, while being what some would consider pricey, is something that some folks prefer to have as an option.

@bill_b, is this clearly visible as a purchase option on the configuration page for all the home systems?

Yes, that IS pricey. I don't believe I paid anyting close to that for my Optiplex and yet I have 3 year premium support.

$99 per year Paul so a 3 year warrantee will cost you $297 on top of your regular warrantee..

@bill_b, it appears we have a conflict here.

IF it is available (as sugarbear says it is NOT) is it easy to find on ALL home machine configurations (as jervis961 says it is not).

I don't have a problem with $99, depending on the term.

But I DO want it to be clearly visible IN any configuration I select!

IS it or is it not?
