Dear Dell,
I absolutely love my Dell Streak 5. The only down fall to this device is that I had lost my usb connect cord and finding a replacement was not an option. I had to purchase a home audio dock kit to use as a replacement. Which is going to take 10 days to arrive. Quite frankly, this is very frustrating as a consummer.  I understand the need to discontinue items as they become obsolete, however, when you sell other accessories for the same device a replacement cord should be available for purchase as well.  Or better yet simplify the cord to a common type. Even Apple with it's iphone, ipad cords....at least those are available EVERYWHERE.  I chose the Dell over the iphone because I like'd it better, but I'm not enjoying the inconveinence of being without my device for several weeks.

Sincerely, Laurie LeVesque

lar - this is an absolutely great idea which we have already begun to implement.  We learned a lot through the process of building the Streak family, and as a result made a decision to standardize our future phones to microUSB connectors (which also happens to be the industry standard) and our future tablets to a proprietary 40-pin connector.  Much like the iOS devices, the 40-pin gives our engineers a lot of flexibility for extending the functionality of accessories like docks for HDMI output, etc, but the goal is to maximize the lifetime of those accessories wherever possible - both for the convenience for and value to our customers and for simplicity in support.

Glad you love your Streak 5, by the way!  Just a note for the future, we do generally have these cables on hand, though sometimes they disappear off the website. If this happens again, you might want to reach out to our Spare Parts department at 800-WWW-DELL, as they frequently have access to replacement parts that may not be listed for general sale on the website.

    Thanks!
