My statewide government agency purchases 4k PC's and a laptops a year. Each system component comes in its own sturdy, well-designed box - which we promptly destroy after unpacking. Sure, some of the largest boxes are given away to staff, but all that corrugated board has to get flattened, and then we pay to get it hauled away.
My office received 100 systems last week, and I have a full pallet of gently used boxes. Wouldn't it make sense to have a program where I could ship those back to Dell for re-use? All of our offices across the state have the ability to palletize and shrinkwrap shipments. Wouldn't Dell save money on such a program, and also be able to brag that they are greener than the next computer company? Sincerely - Sean O'Halloran, MD Dept. of Social Services

Yes, we seriously need to reuse the waste we dump into garbage. All those packing stuff need to be reused.Dell and all other major computer hardware companies unitedly start a plant to reuse the old harware collected from all the reuse drop zones which need to be setup at all retail computer hardware stores.

Maybe Dell could create a new standard for bulk laptop shipment packs? For example a set of 10pack, 20pack or even 100pack (possibly returnable) crates.Maybe a deposit system to motivate care and return of the more expensive packaging?
Also, put the Dell service tag number on a large print label on the latptop edge that is visible after the box lid is removed for easy recording into inventory.
