I'm pretty sure Vostro 3555 bios does not support AMD Fusion APUs correctly. These APUs are run lower frequency as advertised, which is not fair from Dell. I've tested Fusion laptops with A4, A6, A8 APU and seems Dells A8 APU run slower than even HPs A4 APUs.
Lets see some benchmark (I try to link official scores as much as possible):
Dell Vostro 3555 A8-3500M 6GB Ram:
3DMark2001SE: 15023
3DMark2003: 10859
HP Pavilion G4 A4-3300M 6GB Ram:
3DMark2001SE: 17659
3DMark2003: 14413
Dell Vostro 3555 A8-3500M 6GB Ram:
CB10 Rendering Single 32Bit: 1598
CB10 Rendering Single 64Bit: 2085
CB10 Rendering Multi 32Bit: 5171
CB10 Rendering Multi 64Bit: 6852
CB10 OpenGL 32Bit: 3536
CB10 OpenGL 64Bit: 3546
CB R11.5 CPU 64Bit: 1.88
CB R11.5 OpenGL 64Bit: 16.06 fps
Samsung Serie 3 305V5A-S01DE A6-3410MX 6GB Ram:
CB10 Rendering Single 32Bit:1713
CB10 Rendering Single 64Bit:2209
CB10 Rendering Multi 32Bit: 5617
CB10 Rendering Multi 64Bit: 7226
CB10 OpenGL 32Bit: 3884
CB10 OpenGL 64Bit: 3986
CB R11.5 CPU 64Bit: 2.03
CB R11.5 OpenGL 64Bit: 20.34 fps
I hope after these examples nobody will doubt me, that Vostro 3555 far not as fast as supposed to. If yes, I will link lot more examples.

Dear Dell team,Sorry about assuming your laptops has bios issue which involve performance problem. The problem is the APU's are crippled on Ebay, therefore who buy processor from there, will suffer performance issue. Using the Original Dell's processor the laptop is flying and can be overclocked very well.
Here you can read more about the ebay's crippled APUs. The only existing problem; nowhere else possible to buy A8 APU upgrade.

Thanks for replying to my concern. Majority of my used has always been AC plugged. I started noticing the lack from youtube videos, sometimes just having a browser opened and no other programs opening. I tired using the AMD presets for gaming thinking it would boost the performance but I dont see any increase like other users on here are saying or a jump in speed. Before I bought this laptop, it said on the product page that it could go up to 2.4Ghz but always seen at 1.5Ghz. I even contacted the dell support, they are saying all I need was to add more memory to see the increase in speed when i told them I already have over 4gig of ram. I dont know if that was true or not by adding more memory, I would see the speed of 2.4Ghz! ! yes, I updated all the latest drivers even the bio! tooFeb 23, 2012 Comment Link

I just bought Dell Vostro 3555 and I was wondering did anyone find a solution to run at top speed yet? Had this laptop for couple weeks now and notice the performance was not there and thinking about returning it before I run out of return window. Thanks - JoeOct 28, 2011 Comment Link

Dear Ann, I do not think this problem is only with my system, but here are my specs:AMD Quad Core A8-3530MX APU,
AMD Radeon™ HD 6620 Graphics,
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz,
Corsair Force 3 60GB SSD.
I think the integrated GPU and memory works correctly, but the CPU cores are run much slower as it should.
Here is two screenshot of my and a different A8-3530MX system. As you can see the settings are same, but big difference in CPU speed.

@Rebel333 can you also confirm spec-for-spec configs beyond processor, e.g. HDD RPM, memory speed; and most importantly Video graphics (DfX or on processor). The Vostro 3555 does not have a discrete graphics option.

There is no new driver since 8/22/2011, however I've tried the newest Catalyst driver (9/28/2011) from AMD website. It did not increase performance! For addition; overclocking also do not working with this laptop, while other Fusion based laptops gives big performance jump when we set higher CPU multiplier. Something is wrong, run few test and see!

This problem is very serious, It's like the CPU Multiplier internally locked and cannot help Fusiontweaker or K10Stat either. Most of the CPU speed measure programs are show the original CPU frequency, but that is uncorrect. It run slower, because the CPU scores are lower as in similar Fusion laptops. Need bios fix because I would like to keep this laptop.
