I recently called Dell Customer support. I've bought 3 computers in the last 18 months from Dell and have always loved the support received, hence buying 3 from Dell to replace my outdated computers.
When I purchased the computers, I got the dell customer support package. Since then I've updated one of my computers to extend the customer support. During my last phone call, I was told that I have to renew my customer support. I informed him I just bought this computer and have support. He said no Sir you have software support but no hardware support which package would you like to purchase??? Are these salesman or sales technician. Rhetorical question!
I told him I have support with my purchase and software support....I know the problem is a simple fix that can be handled over the phone could he help me. He said he couldn't that I had to have hardware support package. Okay, so, I purchase a computer for 2100 plus, I get the support package, but it seems not the right support package? I tell you what Dell, I'm buying my Mother a computer SOON and maybe my Grandmother. If you don't make this right I will be purchasing a computer elsewhere. I try to buy from American companies whenever possible but, this made me extremely upset.
Come to find out, all i had to do was register my computer and install the auto updates. Once I did that the problem was fixed. Robert Dell, I'm extremely disappointed in your customer support right now.

The idea is, customer support is customer support. If we pay for it we should get it. Not for every different type item on our puter including if we buy a hard drive or an upgrade, etc....If we pay for support we should have it. And, if I buy 3 puters I shouldn't have to pay for support for all 3 either. That's a straight rip off.
