an alienware i7 ultrabook sporting a thin graphite color and ofcourse the bold hood. mousepad bigger and moved to the right. in the middle, one airvent, not two on the sides. the one in the middle has a small glass display over and it could show some colored cooling pipes or something. turning alienware into an ultrabook, it will eliminate alienwares only problems, low battery life, size and weight. * also, metal or carbon fibre case instead of plastic

I've given it some thought, and here are my updated specs:
    - slimmer design compared to other Alienware laptops, while still keeping the Alienware style
    - 14'' IPS LED screen @1920x1200 - 120Hz
(if you are not able to lower the MS of the IPS, I would like to see another solution with true colour reproduction)
    - intel Ivy Bridge CPU
    - nVIDIA GeForce 600M series GPU
    - SSD
    - SD card slot
    - USB 3.0 only
    - no optical drive in favour of better airflow and cooling - in the menu when you are buying this product, you can add an external drive as an option
    - carbon fibre bottom as seen on the DELL XPS 13
    - hidden stickers as seen on the DELL XPS 13

The back of the PC will have air outtakes on both sides and ports in the middle. These ports will be:
    - 1x display port (converter to HDMI included)
    - 1x power
    - 1x USB 3.0

The left side will have these ports:
    - 1x USB 3.0
    - 1x mic
    - 1x headphone
The rest of the space will have ventilation grills in the same style as the ALIENWARE X51

The right side will have these ports:
    - 2x USB 3.0
    - SD card slot

The rest of the space will have ventilation grills in the same style as the ALIENWARE X51

The front will have ventilation grills in the same style as the ALIENWARE X51 with customizable LEDs.

StigtriX  is right. 14 inch would be the optimum size, its portable and not too small of a screen. gaming is all about optimization. I submitted this idea because im a student and everybody who has a notebook/laptop all have problems like size, battery life etc. in this idea, ive incorporated every possible thing to make a portable gaming uktrabook

and 11" is far too small, also, how do you fit all he technology in and still have suitable cooling

11'' is too small. As a result, the keyboard needs to shrink. I do not like that at all, especially since this is a gaming laptop, where the keyboards is extremely important. A 14'' screen in a 13 body would be nice.

I'd say make it a small screen so as not to cannibalise the market for the larger machines, an ultrabook replacement for the m11x would be great!

The usual process is that after an idea is posted the community votes and comments on it. Once the idea reaches a certain amount of popularity it is brought to the product team to be considered.  I hope that helps because I can't quite answer you question fully.

Thanks for explaining further.  Knowing how a person plans to use a system helps.

In my opinion, ultra books are  the future of gaming. problems gamers have are with two things.

    -lack of good enough hardware
    -portability

as you know, hardware in ultrabooks are better and more ergonomic. the only downside to the hardware aspect in my concept would be cooling. if alienware could manage a cooling system for this concept ultrabook, hardware wouldnt be a problem. intel is releasing their new proessor, ivy bridge 22nm which would (if this concept is taken to the next level) eliminate all possible speed issues. Reguarding batterylife, nvidia optimus takes care of loss during normal activities such as data processing in office or casual internet browsing.

Ultrabooks take portability to the next level. It would be revolutionary for a gaming ultrabook to be invented. a student could use the alienware for school use and gaming. it also eliminates the need for desktop pcs to be taken to lans in huge bulky cases. the alienware ultrabook doesnt need to be as thin as a mac book air as it is a gaming laptop but it needs to be thin enough to be classified as an ultra book.

The ultrabook  could also have more of a gaming design by implementing small details like moving the mousepad to the right so your wrist doesnt touch the pad, a usb 2.0 port for your mouse, slightly roughening the wasd buttons so you dont need to look down to find the buttons, no numberpad to make it more portable, a led battery life indicator on the top. It could also have a good looking finish, maybe carbon fibre or a dark brushed metal. A big thing would be the ability to upgrade the hard drive and ram yourself.

alienware is known for its incredible designs and extra ordinary gaming abilities. an ultrabook would fit perfectly in alienwares aray of gaming laptops
