We use display/Monitor for TWO activities:

1. Reading
2.Writing (typing)

There can be a display option : Dim inactive portion of monitor  while we type on keyboard.

When we type letters-emails-compose word-ppt text boxes,we only  look at the screen exactly where we are typing.The illumination in other part of the screen is just a wastage !.

Once we are done with typing , a slight movement of pointer/MOUSE to the inactive area could be used to lit the whole screen bright again.

    Thanks for the idea. Almost like shining a flashlight to different parts of the screen? How do you envision the experience management to be handled?
