The new XPS 15z is wonderful laptop, hopefully 13z or 14z coming soon as well. I want these laptops with the following configuration:
-AMD Quad-Core A8 Accelerated Processor,
-Optional Dual Graphics (Hibrid CrossFire) with Radeon 6700M or 6600M,
-Optional Full HD screen resolution.

I've seen the new XPS14z review at notebookcheck and I think you could bring out a much more impressive laptop if you follow my Idea.First of all: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M+1366x768 Pixel=FAIL. This discreet card is barely better than the Intel's IGP. 3DMark 11=562 Punkte. Come on Dell it is a $1000 laptop!!! Poor connectivity, high temperature.... I like the 14 inch screen in 13inch body, but I'll rather buy few more Vostro...

SmoothsmithI like ultrabooks, but unfortunatelly only for Intel. However next gen. Intel CPUs (Ivy Bridge) will perform well in graphics area too. Nice future coming...:).

Agreed, 13"/14" are optimal sizes for laptops (Not too big to carry, Not so small they have useless components :P)To those commenting on thickness:
I would far rather have a bit of a thicker laptop with some horsepower behind it than a super-thin thing which is useless. "Ultrabooks" are kind of useless..
Use of the new AMD APU's would be great, and the gaming performance when in crossfire would be much appreciated. At the moment I have a studio xps 13 & I feel it is a little underpowered, this would be an awesome upgrade.

My current 'dream' machine is actually available - the Sony Vaio Z (expect for the media dock, that's a waste of money).I can't buy one because the sony Irish website shop is down for the last couple of months and the UK shop won't ship to ireland (!!)
It is the only 13" ultraportable that is currently available with the option of the Full HD MATTE display and a Core-i7 (dual). Also: 8GB RAM, 'Gen3' SSD, Backlit Keys, 3G WAN, FingerPrint reader, Battery Extender, 1.2Kg(!)
> “day in the life” scenario?
A professional software developer on-the-go. There are many like me. If they are not buying the Vaio Z, they are all buying MacBook Airs and installing Windows 7 on them!
Seriously, where is the viable competitor to the Vaio Z??
Just to re-iterate, incase you missed it above. MATTE FULL HD SCREEN

Basically everyone use their laptop for; Internet, Work and Entertainment. Each of these are very broad, so you cannot build a laptop which exactly suite for all costumer. But you can offer options; AMD Fusion near Intel Core I5, high res screen, additional graphics, backlit keyboard. If we have these 4 customizing options on each model, I really could build a perfect laptop for myself. Think for cars; like Volkswagen offer each model with 7 diesel and 7 gasoline engine in Europe. They do not say diesels are only for big ugly cars without any luxury. They let us build a little Golf with really powerful turbo-diesel include all kind of luxury equipments. They never ask for What?!! Therefore they are the most successful car manufacture company in Europe and will be in the whole world. I hope you know what I’m meant.

@new_delphi - my goal was to highlight that while we haven’t delivered a system to your exact configurations, we do has several that meet some of the requirements. Depending on what kind of experience a person wants, or technology they are looking for, one of these other systems might suit them as well. I did get one item wrong..as you pointed out the Vostro 3555 doesn’t support a discrete graphics card option so no AMD dual graphics support there. The Inspiron M511R which DOES support dual graphics with a AMD Radeon 6470M graphics card and the AMD quad core A8-3500M. It is currently available to students and organizations through our Employee Purchase Program: http://bit.ly/qsqwUc. I’ve asked how we can make it available to the general public and will post that info when I get it.
For folks who want a thin & powerful laptops, there’s the Z series – while they are not powered by AMD APUs, they are slim and trim, slip easily in to bags and backpacks, don’t weigh you down, AND deliver some pretty impressive performance amd battery life. I personally went with the Vostro V131 for my daughter to take to college (backlit keyboard option pushed it ahead of the Inspiron 14z).
Again –I just wanted to share some options with folks..but back to your idea…what would you do with a 13” laptop with a quad-core A8, dual graphics and Full HD display? Can you share some “day in the life” scenarios? Certainly our goal on Ideastorm is to gather feedback from customers on what they want in a PC..and we often get lots of lists of tech specs, but little insight as to what exactly they want to do with their dream machine. When I share posts like this with the product planners and engineers, the first question is always: what do they actually want to do with the system? To be clear, they are asking because they want to extrapolate those experiences and activities into the future, and apply those discoveries to next generation products. So we’d truly appreciate your help if you’re willing to share additional feedback.

Anne_c:And we did not got anything what we asked; Vostro 5555 is 15inch withot dual-graphics, Inspiron M511R also 15inch with powerless second graphics, Inspiron 13z and 14z are Intel powered, Vostro V131 too. What is this topic about?
