Apple has the IPad retina with 2048x1536 on a 9.7" screen and the Retina MacBook Pros with 2560x1600 on 13.3" and 2880x1800 on 15.4" screens. Google has the Nexus 10 with 2560x1600 on a 10.1" screen. There are smartphones with 1920x1080 on ~5" screens (HTC One for example). So why are all the 11" Windows 8 tablets and convertibles 1366x768? I believe Dell has one convertible with 1920x1080 on a 12.5" screen, but that's still fairly low DPI. Where are the high DPI Windows 8 tablets, convertibles, and Ultrabooks? In the same vain, why are there no monitors below 27" with resolutions higher than 1920x1200? I'd buy a 23-24" monitor with 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 for under $1000 in a heartbeat.

Thank you for your idea submission. I can tell you we are considering higher resolutions on consumer lines like XPS for future generations now. Stay tuned, and you just might see us ship what you're looking for on future platforms, depending on how the planning goes.May 29, 2012 Comment Link

Regarding current products, the Latitude E6520 and Precision M4600 (both 15") have display options of Full HD, which is 1080p - a resolution of 1920x1080. In the 14" systems, you can get HD+ (900p) on the Alienware M14x and the Latitude E5420 and E6420 systems.May 3, 2012 Comment Link

I have an older Latitude e6500 15.3in screen 1920x1200 resolution display. I will not buy a new laptop until I can get at LEAST that in a 15in or smaller laptop. Come on Dell, step up. Give the next size up in 14in laptops.Mar 27, 2012 Comment Link
