Dell please don't make the Latitude XT2 a Windows only device. Please give us the option of Ubuntu on the XT2.
And remember to keep the price reasonable this time around.

This is a lost cause. Dell are lagging behind just getting this to work with Windows 7 never mind anything else. Frankly I think it's more than likely Dell will never make an effort to make this work properly with Linux. Which is a shame. A lot of Linux users wanted this.Nov 27, 2009 Comment Link

Actually now that I've done a little bit more research, N-trig seem to be the only player in the touch screen business that doesn't produce a Linux driver. Everybody else supports Linux right up to kernel version 2.6. Looking at their marketing material it's clear N-trig are a Microsoft-only shop. Their touch sensor was designed purely with Windows in mind. Why would Dell, a company that supports Linux, be involved with these people? Surely it stands to reason that if Dell are offering Linux on laptops then some of those customers buying Linux on Dell laptops just might have wanted the Latitude XT. In fact we know for certain they did. They told you over on D2D.Jun 1, 2008 Comment Link
