  • fully custom alienware 17 and 18

    Status: Acknowledged

we are paying a premium price for our alienware laptops why cant we customize them. they are averitised as fully customizable but are not. i recently ordered a 17 i was forced from a 780m to the r9 m290x since i wanted a laptop with a blu-ray drive under $4k i also wanted to upgrade my cpu but could not... i understand part of why you all do this is so you can ship them faster but what is wrong with doing it like most other gaming companies prebuilt fast ship models or a fully custom option with a slightly longer wait time.. i wanted to replace my 17 already with a 18 infavor of sli/crossfire but you cannot get bluray at all i just dont understand this reasoning do i need to take my buisness back to falcon northwest.

  • Dell XPS 13 Linux Super Key Selection

    Status: Acknowledged

I like to try out different types of operating systems, but I also like the hardware to reflect the OS that it runs. For Windows, this is the standard Windows-style keyboard we all know. Chromebooks have their own keyboards, Macbooks as well. Though it seems like a minor issue, I'd really like to be able to select to have a Linux-style Super Key of some sort. Whether this is the Ubuntu logo, or Tux, just some kind of Linux-appropriate key would be nice to see on the Dell XPS 13 and it would 100% be my first-choice laptop for Linux development. I think best-case would be allowing the selection of multiple different Super Key styles to include everyone (Korora, Ubuntu, Arch, etc.) but I'd understand if this is an unreasonable request, and would in the very least be more than happy to accept an Ubuntu key instead. This laptop was made to work 100% with Ubuntu, I think it only makes sense to go 100% with the design and make it 100% a Linux laptop from a professional computer hardware manufacturer like Dell. Being a go-to for even a single fully-featured Ubuntu laptop completely themed to Ubuntu would set Dell apart from other manufacturers who just recommend purchasing a Windows machine and then installing Ubuntu over it.

Please, if you could make some Alienware branded peripherials that'd be great. I mean, serious peripherials, because there are three of them: Tactx mouse, Tactx keyboard and Tactx headset, and after a little research I realised that those aren't that good. There isn't even a mouse for left- handed people. So please, give us more options when it's time to buy gaming accessories.

The homepage is perfect. The rest is not. Let's start with the Laptops and Desktops' section. It starts well, but the gallery button(s) should be changed; as there are 5 miniatures, people think that those are the only five pictures. replace them with a single miniature or a "gallery" icon. but not that small, please, and add a lot of new pictures from closer angles (this applies for the X51, Aurora, 14, 17 and 18). Then, I don't know if it's just me, but the video doesn't work. I click the video, the gallery pops out at the 11/11 (for example, the X51 gallery has 10 pics and then one video) and there's nothing but a black square and the audio. Seriously? The "build yours" section. Add a video to the "Features and Design" part. Many people will get to the Aurora (for example) with a link in a message from a friend: -Dude look at this computer, it's a beast! http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-aurora-r4/pd.aspx-So they didn't watch the video which is in the previous page that says Desktops. Make a map picture that labels every port, macro or special point of the system (like the pictures at the beginning but more complete). It NEEDS the "Home button".It's at the previous sections as a little white alien head but it's not in any of the "build yours" section! But you can still see a little home button that takes you to the Dell homepage, not to the Alienware homepage. This also happens with this:  Home & Home Office> Laptops & Notebooks> Alienware> Alienware 17> Alienware 17 LaptopNone of those buttons takes you to the previous pages, it takes you to dell's page, which I found confusing at first. The "Gearshop" section. It talks by itself. Just compare. Click the button "Learn more" below the Headset or the carrying cases and then click the one below the Tactx mouse and keyboard. You will see what needs to be improved.  And the last little issue, is that when you have the little white sign which says "Chat with Dell now" you can scroll horizontally forever. lol. I think that's it.
