Situation/Problem:With all the news about the laptop bans in the cabins on flights from the Middle East to the U.S.A. and the high possibility of expanding it to 70+ additional International locations - it is not far fetched to think that this may eventually expand to flights between the east to west coast.. With that train of through, in practicality all domestic flights would also have a laptop ban...The reason for the ban, seems to primarily be centered around the lithium batteries they use (that can be swapped with bombs) and general mistrust of whats really in a laptop chassis. Most would be quite hesitant putting their laptop (with confidential company data) in a checked bag, where they are out of sight and things can go missing or get damaged, not to mention losing productivity time on a 4-16+ hour flight.
FreeBSD is an extremely stable OS. OpenBSD is an an extremely secure OS. DELL should offer it a synthesis of these two OS's as an optional install. Security will be the most important criteria in the acquisition of technological goods. For audio outputs it would be necessary to separate microphone and audio then propose 2 outputs jack 3.5mm (gold plated) with the function "balanced" but also a spdif output. If not for the software, keep thet of Nahimic audio, it is well thought out. Finally, with the evolution of the technology, it would be claver to make your screens evolve towards Quantums Dots and HDR 10, whether for IPS or even TN It would be good if the model 17 is eqipped with an OLED slab like the 13, with in addition a screen refreshing top and a latency adapted to the competiton. In the past, Dell offered a service where you could pay extra to have a design added to certain XPS laptops when you were configuring them for order. Of course, if you're getting it as a gift for someone, or it gets damaged, the design you chose/created is really expensive to fix.What I propose is a pilot program where facades are created for different Dell/Alienware laptop models. Facades would be like the faceplates made for the PS4; a pair of covers that clip onto the back of a laptop's display and the base, rather than a permanent customisation of its chassis.Since these are removeable at any time, they could be made of a thin, dense material that protects the laptop from scuffs and denting, but have designs from partnered artists, celebrate games, TV shows and movies, or just change the laptop's chassis colour. More than that, if they got damaged, you could simply replace them instead of replacing the whole laptop.
