Letters on Keyboard Should be More Visible

I just got a new computer accompanied by a KB212B. When there is not a very bright light in the room, it is very hard to see the letters on the keys.  Side by side with an old and well-used Compaq keyboard, the letters on the new board are extremely faint compared with the old one. Please, Dell, why don't you make the text on the board more easily seen in dimmish light?

a new portable display for around the home.

design and build a peripheral that would be used with my current desktop tower at a price that would compete with current tablets on the market. under $500. you would need to design a way to send a video and audio signal from the pc to the display around the home. the display should be available in a few different sizes eventually but begin with the 10" as a starting point. the display would need to talk to the wifi in the home to send the touch imputs, camera, and mic back to the pc. the proposition here is that consumers could purchase one central pc in the home and possibly run several "virtual" computers around the home for all the family members in a small portable tablet form. mom has a tablet in the kitchen that she uses for recipes and entertainment. dad has a tablet in the living room to surf the internet while he watches television in the family room. the kids have a tablet they can use for games and homework. instead of upgrading all these devices the consumer could increase the memory or hard drive storage or add a faster processor with more cores etc... obviously this would be a huge opertunity for business users as well. the display would need a battery suply capable of 6-8 hours normal use. possibly an add on mouse or keyboard option and a dock to charge the thing. Whatever company is first to bring this idea to market could re energize the consumer pc market and challenge the ipad. using virtual machine technology it would be fairly easy to design a system to support 4-8 devices from an 8 core machine if it had enough ram. Intel was working on a wireless display scheme for a while but i think it never really worked as hoped.

Alienware Mobile Graphics Card Upgrade

I think it would be a good idea if Alienware offered their M17x and M18x graphics cards as purchasable accessories on the dell website.  Why should we have to go to ebay or attempt to order them from the Dell parts warehouse?  It would be much easier if they allowed us to purchase them from the accessories/upgrades website.  It seems a bit silly that Dell will teach you how to replace the part, but won't easily sell it.  I think they could make a ton of extra money and they would truly make their laptops upgradable.

New Era of Keyboards

Keys on a keyboard have been around since the 1860s (on typewiters). So can you think of a difference between keyboards today and typewriter keyboards that our parents, grandparents, and great grandparents used? Yeah they may be plastic and a bit smaller, but overall they haven't changed. It doesn't seem right that computers change drastically year to year, yet we keep using the same keyboard that we've been using for 150+ years. It's time for a change. Dell should be the first company to implement keyboards for the desktop/TV that are similair to tablets (preferably more rectangular in shape). This way users could choose between QWERTY, DVORAK, etc. Also change the color of the keys due to personal preference, etc. This is only a small proportion of the ideas I have for it. I mean think about it, how much would it cost to make a tablet that needed no memory and its only function was a keyboard? Well I hope you enjoyed reading my idea and maybe even give it a vote. Dr. Different, out.

High Resolution Desktop Monitor

Hi all, ever since the LCD monitor killed of the CRT, i was a little diasappointed with the pixel density of desktop monitors. Back in the day it probably was a technical limitation. But i don't understand, why on earth there is not a single hi res desktop monitor on the market today.I mean today you can get a 4" mobile display with 1920x1080, 40" TV with 4096x2160, or a 15" Macbook with 2880x1800 pixels. So why isn't there a monitor in the 21" - 24" range with 150 - 200ppi?I'd like to see something like a 22" with 2880x1800 or a 24" with 3200x2000.I see a big niche market here with not a single competitor in it.Also some other features i'd like on a monitor:-16:10 aspect ratio,-thin border for better ergonomics when using multiple monitors,-fast response time,-low input lag,-support for higher than 60Hz refresh rates. What i don't like:-16:9 or even wider aspect ratios,-glare displays,-dynamic contrast,-low frequency backlight pwm, (with LEDs there's no technical reason to not make it 1kHz or higher)-sensor buttons-bright status LEDs-external power supplies-"digital picture enhancements": none of them do really enhance anything. the only thing they do is increase input lag. What i think is unnecessary and only increases cost without real benefit:-VGA and HDMI ports-USB-hubsI'd love to buy such a monitor in 1 or maybe 2 years, but the past has taught me, that chances are quite low.regards, Markus

USB Memory Stick Fitted with Dell Laptop

That would be awesome and very handy if there is SLOT (with/without cover) somewhere around keyboard or if not feasible then at least the back side of Dell laptop to keep the USB stick (2GB to 32GB). USB stick would be from Dell too and very slim to fit in very small slot or groove. This way, everyone can have their USB stick readily available with the laptop at all time and no need to carry it saperatly. I don't think it involves a major cost, just a smart design and this feature can alsobe used in advertisements. That would be awesome and very handy if there is SLOT (with/without cover) somewhere around keyboard or if not feasible then at least the back side of Dell laptop to keep the USB stick (2GB to 32GB).
