So quite simple. I would like a XPS 18 with the new Haswell processors. I also expect Intel Graphics 5,000 or better, and better battery life. It also needs 802.11ac. And I hope you keep all the good configurations (i5 with stand and i7 with stand).Just letting you know, my grandfather wants a i5 XPS 18, but I'm telling him to wait for the Haswell version. :)

If its available on Alinware 14 then why not on A 17? LCD IPS is by no doubt the best display a portable device can ever get (except for maybe an OLED screen .. but no hopes there). It will be amazing to see an IPS display on A 17. And I'm also planning to get an A 17 in the following month and I would definetly pay extra for an IPS Display.

First off, a 1080P Screen standard. Think about it, you have 1080P on a 13' and 15' but not 14'?Second, a 28nm GPU with GDDR5. (and 128bit memory) The previous model had a GDDR5 but with only 64 bit memory bus making the GDDR5 only equal to 128 DDR3, the model also had a 40nm GPU which is less efficient and less powerfull.Thirdly, (but somewhat less critical) either make the upcomming model lighter or add a ultra slim optical drive.

this is a repost of the original desktop case design.its still made by me and you wont find it anywhere else than ideastorm.i used about 3-4 months on this design.due to the fact that when i started it i wasnt that good at scaling i made it about double the size of a normal desktop case.if it is to be implemented please rescale it :S because having a super tall computer wouldnt be that great.IMPORTANT!!!: this is a post to improve some of the things i forgot to include to the original post!the USB ports will be on the front above the cd/dvd rom door/latch and you can put around 1-4 USB 2 or 3 ports there if you want to.all other fans/ inputs etc... will also have regular placements as in most other computers.IMPORTANT NOTE TO MODERATORS: you are allowed to change the design of the case so do not sk where you want things because you can just fix that wherever you want :DPictures:ignore the fan placements in the picture above!!!! (THE ONE ABOVE THAT AGAIN IS THE PLACEMENT YOU WANT!)VERY IMPORTANT!: if the moderators at ideastorm wants to remove this one for just being one very similar to my old one please remove the old one instead as this is an improved post!!!

For professional users, provide an option to get 16:10 format or 3:2 for the screen. What matter for us is high quality screen, excellent led backlight with decent physical _height_ because we program, design, use office suite and very little video.I'm not speaking of pixel resolution BUT physical aspect ration.I have a m4400 upgraded with an SSD and I'm just hoping not to need to buy a mac book pro just because they provide laptop with good aspect ratio for WORK...

Hello, I just saw Alienware's newly unveiled line of gaming laptops the Alienware 14, 17, and 18 on the the updated Alienware site.I've been in the market for a new gaming laptop and was considering an Alienware, especially since it was one of the few gaming laptops that I could get in red. But I heard that there was a new product refresh coming so I waited. Upon looking at new models, I noticed that the two other body color options, "nebula red" and black don't seem to be available.I asked one of the Alienware reps via chat when I could expect to be able to build an Alienware 17 in Nebula red, and he replied that unfortunately the new models aren't going to come in anything but the default silver. This is ...disappointing to say the least. I think that Alienware should strongly consider retaining the color choices that were available on the outgoing laptop models, for the new gaming laptops that they just unveiled.

HI,I would like to present an idea in which if a software is developed which can actually disable the usage of battery when connected to the docking station and connect the laptop to a DC power supply as soon as you unplug the diocking station the battery should come up, it can gradually increase the battery life and also will avoid overcharging of Battery hence enhancing the battery life of laptop.

Dell should force Microsoft to provide a direct link to a Windows 8 .iso that is available free of charge for everyone. Microsofts current online distribution mechanism for Windows 8 is awful. It firstly requires the user to have a functional previous version of Windows installed. Next it does not allow the user to select 32 bit or 64 bit only downloading setup files which correspond to the bit of the previous version of WIndows. Finally it requires the user to pay for an additional product key. It should be noted that users already have a product key with preinstalled Windows 8 but it is hidden within the system's BIOS. They cannot use this product key to download a Windows 8 .iso. Right now everything is downloadable except for Windows which is required to run everything else Dell have available to download. The .iso would allow users to download everything they require for clean installation of Windows which is necessary to resolve many software issues including complete corruption of the Operating System due to Viruses/Malware and also allow users to get back on their feet after common hardware failure such as the hard drive failing. The Windows 8.iso would also allow users to perform StartUp Repair and to repair installations. Moreover a clean Install of Windows offers vastly superior performance to the Dell factory settings especially after Service Packs are released and is documented in my worldwide adopted Windows Reinstallation Guide: http://philipyip.wordpress.com/dell-community-forums/ In addition there are alot of software issues including out of box experiences, the inability to make recovery media using Dell DataSafe which could all be resolved with a Windows Reinstallation DVD or USB. Note with the Windows Reinstallation USB it should be identical to the Reinstalaltion DVD and not have any bundled drivers or software not present in Microsoft retail Windows DVDs. Otherwise it is as useless as the factory settings. Due to the new product activation in the OEm version fo Windows 8 a generic Windows 8 .iso could be used to Clean Install Windows 8 without the need for phone activation. Users should be able to: Download a Windows 8 .iso from Microsoft. Procure a Reinstallation DVD or USB with the system at the time of purchase. Dell used to be great at user customisation but their software options have become increasing limited. The reinstallation DVD or USB is an example of this. The current method of getting a Reinstallation DVD or USB is waiting for the system to arrive and then having to contact Dell Technical Support. This forces users to use the factory settings until the DVD or USB arrives. In which case there can be alot of software issues, the XPS 8500 had alot of user out of the box bad experiences which could have been easily resolved if they had the Reinstallation DVD or USB. Bare in mind also there is only a limited time the user has to send back the system and if they are diagnosing an out of the box experience time is lost waiting for the Reinstallation DVD to arrive. There should be an online form to procure Reinstallation DVD/USBs from Dell for customers outside the US. The US form is here http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&redirect=1&DoNotRedirect=y HP for instance have the ability to request media via an online form in the US, Canada, most European countries and elsewhere http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=bph07143 however the HP Recovery Media are equivalent to the Dell DataSafe Media (i.e. factory settings). There has been many a user dissatisfaction for Dell users requesting recovery media in this poll here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/4677/t/19476992.aspx This would improve Dells software services significantly.

The ALIENWARE X 51 R2 is a much wanted and needed update, but I will dare to say that there is still room for improvement. The road to perfection is long and cumbersome and to get there one needs to do more than improve upon the internals of the model. So... Here are my suggestions for further refinement:_____________________________________________DESIGNMaintain the same design, but make the chassis a bit bigger and add more airflow holes with the same grill design as on the current unit. I go more in detail about this under ”COOLING”. Add metal instead of shiny plastic to improve the build quality of the front of the unit. Alternatively, the front can be made out of matte plastic instead. Shiny plastic is more prone to scratch marks and fingerprints and ruins the aesthetics of the ALIENWARE X51, in my opinion._____________________________________________PSUThis is the area that needs the most attention for the rest of the package to be possible. 330W is simply not enough for a power hungry gaming machine. A PSU does not need to become a behemoth in order to be able to offer more power. A bump to 600W would allow even a GTX 780 to be added, if the new unit is better at keeping the internals cool. If you managed to make your own 600W PSU with an even smaller form factor compared to the ones already out on the market, it would sure impress many people. Since small form factor PCs are becoming more and more popular, just look at HTPCs, it would be an investment. The 600W should be standard on every model to improve the upgradability and appeal to PC enthusiasts and PC builders. I thought of a more compact version of XG’s Magnum 600 without the LCD._____________________________________________COOLINGPlease use a combination of copper and graphene for cooling - its 25% more efficient and cheaper than copper! This will both save money and do a better job than copper alone can ever do. Adding the same mix to the cooling solution of the GPU would make sense. To make the unit quieter, add a more effective and quieter CPU fan and GPU fan. To top it off, make quality thermal compound a standard feature on ALIENWARE products. It would give a lot of positive PR and lower temperatures.Make the chassis a tad bigger for better airflow. Especially the area where the GPU is stationed should be a bit bigger so it is easier to fit a larger card there without it getting too tight and hot inside the case. The chassis could be 2 cm deeper and 2 cm higher without the size becoming a problem. There is also a possibility to get better airflow by adding hidden holes around the ALIENWARE FX areas on the side. It would be nice with several, new and hidden areas where air can enter the chassis._____________________________________________GPUWith this model, there will be enough power and good enough cooling for the customer to add at least a nVIDIA GTX 770, and maybe even a GTX 780, depending on how much the cooling has improved._____________________________________________SOUNDI know that ALIENWARE products come with MaxxAudio software, but in order to offer a better sound experience, hardware is needed. A small chip from e.g. Creative or ASUS on the motherboard or a small, added chip would do wonders and make sense as this system is meant for serious gaming while offering HTPC possibilities._____________________________________________

HiYou've recently shown off a prototype of the XPS 11 where the cover/keyboard flips back to allow the device to become a tablet, similar to the Lenovo design. While everyone is wowed by haswell and the 1440p screen, I'm thinking you need to make a similar device but a big brother in a 13.3" size that uses something akin to the 1080 screen on the XPS 13. Why "akin"? Well you should make it touch enabled and pen enabled, much like the XPS 11. But while a 1440p 13.3 would be nice, certainly something of the quality of the 13.3 1080p would be suitable as well. I say this because the time for this device is now, so better get crackin. If you wait till Christmas, someone else will have already run with this idea.
