2013 Ideas

My suggestion to Dell would be, before starting asking for other´s ideas, start using responsible and comitted companies to do their deliveries to clients. In Brazil - I don´t know why or how this has happened - Dell has elected a low-quality / low comitting transportation company. I´m trying to understand which open or hidden reasons took Dell to make this choose. So DELL, before ask what your clients can do for you, try to fix your quality and poor comittment problems with your clients before !I´ve bought 3 notebooks with delivery date set to Dez.21st. and so far I´ve got nothing ! My relatives to whom it was supposed to be a gift and myself are frustated. If you want to track this purchase, the order number  is [Redacted] !!

Tablets for Students

I think Dell needs to include tablets as an option for students (and military).  In our rapid advancement in technology, you see more and more students at universities using tablets for their school work.  It is simple, tablets are lighter and easier to carry than most laptops and just as functional for the needs of college students.  They are great for storing and accessing the wide variety of articles and books which students often are required to refer to.  Just as many military members could use a tablet for referencing the various regulations of their branch of service.  Overall, I believe if Dell would offer a tablet to the student/military community, that they would (or should) see an increase in sales.

how about selling laptops/desktops in easy instalments to the office workers/students of developing/poor nations. For Example, I can pay only Pak.Rupees 2000/- per month for 2 laptops through my bank account after reasonable/acceptable guarantee from my office. Thus increasing sale with increasing popularity!

Your great Idea could earn you a trip to Dell World*

Current-See!

My idea is to have Austin youth (12-18 yrs. of age) showcase their own accomplishments in a Workshop Track called Current-See, and show the adults in attendance how it's done with Dell!  Sessions could include a myriad of topics, including how youth are using social to crowdfund a project, develop and deliver a digital campaign, or gamifiy a homework assigment. A youth panel with interactive Q&A with adults regarding the importance of earning and exchanging digital currency across various platfroms and channels would comprise the final session of workshops. I beleive that youth, specially today, can offer a powerful voice to IdeaStorm!

Children's PC

Build a pc just for kids. As a mother of two young primary school children I find that there is an enormous amount of pc games for my children, but I do not want to grant them access to my pc as they would possibly destroy any information or programmes that I may have on it. At the same time they are too young to use the internet or "eral" programmes. Can Dell build a kids pc, which would give them the speed necessary for the so-called skills games, the screen for optimum view especially now that you are venturing into different colours (soemthing all kids love). There is no need for internet connection, but you must be able to play a cd and/or dvd on it. Status Update Check out The Nickelodeon Edition Inspiron Mini

Pre-installed Linux must play commercial DVDs

Status: Partially Implemented

You probably know this, but a "show stopper" requirement for most consumers and many educators and business road warriers is having laptops and desktops that can play commmercial DVDs. I have a hunch that preinstalled Linux on Dell machines will be a terrific success if Dell Linux desktops and laptops have this capability. I've been told that http://www.videolan.org/ has one possible approach. Having Linux playing commercial DVDs may also catapult Dell into the complex Digital Rights Management contoversy so it would be wise to get Dell's legal staff involved ASAP and also have this discussed this at the highest strategic management levels at Dell (if this is not already being done). ubuntu on my computer: open source for education

I am a french teacher working in the south of France .The school's computers are Dell and Nec computers. Like most of my colleagues, I am using "opensource" (free) softwares, and specially Ubuntu for 2 years. It works perfectly and the pupils who tried Ubuntu like it very much. I hope it will be possible to buy a Dell computer without Windows very soon and I hope that all the Dell computers of my school will use Ubuntu. Not only because Ubuntu is free (even if it's not insignificant in a french school...) , but because working with Ubuntu forces you to understand and to think how and why you are using your (Dell) computer. I know that I'm speaking and writing english language like a spanish cow, so I'm sorry. I just want to finish my message with this: please be the first big computer manufacturer offering Ubuntu or Windows (which is very performant, but not the only one and specially at school) . Status Update Check out the Latitude 2100.
