Solid State Drives (SSD) are the way to go. I am in the market to replace my old trusty 500m from 4 years ago. However, I have found few laptops that are really worth replacing my trusty 4.9lb laptop with. Newer laptops are no doubt better, but in the range of the portable non-desktop replacing market I have been disappointed. Until the Toshiba R500... Come on Dell, push the SSD technology and get a hold of this semi-ultraportable market!!! I mean why pay $500 (THAT'S RIGHT $500!!) for a 32Gb SSD in the 1330 when the R500 (although a little more $) is breathing down your Dell neck with a sub 2lb laptop with a 64Gb SSD? Oh yeah, I know why. B/c Toshiba is directly involved in the evolution of SSD technology. They just dont rely on others to make the drives and then buy them to put in their computers. IDEA: bring down the cost of the SSD thru aggressive ordering. Send the relatively hefty 13.3 1330 XPS into a truly competitive weight category with the advantage of cost and a nice 13.3 widescreen w LCD technology. Now that is a recipe I would use and buy right away. Until then, I will use my sub 5lb 500m until it dies. The cost of upgrading to a laptop with little advantage in weight is just not really worth it. We need a refreshing, appealing, non-black box, & AFFORDABLE portable product.

I really want to buy an XPS One - especially after checking it out at Best Buy. But a maximum RAM configuration of 2GB just doesn't cut it. I will be waiting to buy it when the 4GB option is available. Status Update Check out the new 24", 4GB XPS One here.

The XPS 15 has Full HD. Why not the XPS 17?. It would be the perfect Notebook with a Full HD screen. My 4 year old 17" Inspiron 9400 and also my Studio 17 has Full HD and I love those display so much!! It is great to work with this resolution and watching Blurays on it I would buy the XPS 17 right now if it has Full HD. Please DELL, put Full HD Display in the XPS 17! If DELL will do that then please in Germany, too. Thanks Status Update: Please see bill_b's comment for further details. Thanks for posting!

Dell design and implement a new 13" XPS Laptop! Include the following: 1. Option of color on the outside of the screen, like silver, red and black! 2. Make it thinner than your current XPS offerings. 3. Introduce a round shaped hinge that opens at the back of the case. 4. Include the fingerprint reader. 5. With the new Duo Core processor at a fast 2.4 GHz and with the Santa Rosa chipset! 6. Make sure it can handle 4 gig of RAM. 7. Incorporate the new solid state hard drive, I think its called SSD drive? Or a large spinning drive like 250 gigs. 8. Slot-loading dual-layer DVD±RW drive! 9. Optional NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS / 128MB 10. WWAN option for Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T 11. Ethernet, 802.11a, a/g, or n options, Bluetooth option 12. Integrated 2 megapixel webcam (VGA only on LED-backlit display) 13. HDMI, VGA, 1394, (2) USB 2.0, integrated media reader (MS, SD, xD), dual mini-PCI slots 14. Approx. Dimensions with LED 12.5 x 9.4 x 0.87 - 1.33-inches (318 x 238 x 22.1 - 33.8mm) / with CCFL 12.5 x 9.4 x 0.97 - 1.43-inches (318 x 238 x 24.6 - 36.3mm) 15 Keep the weight around 4 pounds 16. Include headphones and a remote that slides into the computer case so we can hide it and take it along without much fuss. 17. LED lit back screen. 18. Make it so it releases next week if not the end of this week! This will sell like hot cakes! I can provide a few sketches of what it should look like if my description was not clear. PS: Can you offer a Ubuntu version as well? If not how about a FreeDOS version? Come on you sell those already whats it cost to throw in a Ubuntu CD? I can install it if you don't want to. I understand by the way. Status Update Check out the XPS M1330, which also has the option for Ubuntu!

Offer the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66 GHz.....the Q6600 is not the power I want on the XPS 630...before I can buy the XPS 630, I want to see th Q6700 on this bad boy....this is what some people want other than 2.40 GHz processor for a gaming desktop. I only see this for the XPS 420...but now it is timeto offer this on all of your XPS desktops for Dell..ca and Dell.com.....and other websites accross the world. Status Update Please see chris_m's comment and you can try the online configurator.

As a consultant responsible for dozens of companies supply of PC's and notebook computers, I'm having a harder and harder time finding anything decent at Dell to recommend! As Dell pares down their brands, getting rid of Studio, and Studio XPS, we're now left with the unappealing and plastic-ey consumer Inspiron brand, and the what-used-to-be-top-of-the-line-but-now-is-ho-hum, XPS. Is it just me, or is the new Dell XPS portable line void of that classy, bleeding-edge technology that we used to know and love? Now, not only are they (IMHO) ugly, but they are now just cookie-cutter systems that really offer nothing that other vendors also have. What I miss are the "middle brands", the Studio and Studio XPS. Those were innovative, beautiful, and something that when seen, were wanted! All glass screens, sleek designs, semi-bleeding-edge technology, and for just a bit more money than the classless consumer Best Buy junk. Dell? Hire some design people. Listen to those of us that USE computers, that want the latest features, and incorporate those in your products. YES, an OPTION for Hi-res screens are REQUIRED. 1600x900 is nice on a 14" screen, not a 17.3". That is not what I want to spend my hard earned money on when I buy an XPS. If you're going to have a high-end brand like XPS, make it count. Make people envious to want one. We're not all teen gamers, so running around with an Alienware design notebook is a bit embarrasing. Give us power, and package it in a classy, sophisticated design. Build it, and they will come. Status Update: Please see bill_b's comment for further details. Thanks for posting!
Do like HP has done with the black bird 02 and offer XPS gaming models that can run SLI or Crossfire off the same high end mobo. Status Update Please see aaron_h's comment

I'm aware the 64 bit OS are not popular right now, but support needs to have 64 bit drivers available for those users to have the option to install 64 bit OS in the XPS 630 as the big brothers do in the XPS 700 series.

This is a great video Card, in almost all benchmark defeats the Cards from Nvidia. The XPS should have this card as an option.
