The Green Dell

A website where home gardners and small farmers can put up their crops that they are planning, planting, growing, harvesting - and see, by "locality," what others are planting in their neighbourhood. The idea is that they can then perhaps change their minds and plant something no-one else is growing, leading to greater diversity of foods available in their region. People can then either opt to buy these direct from the grower, or trade them for something that they grow themselves, and the idea is to make every region able to grow good local food. The "locality" should be an area that makes sense for local food, i.e. not much more than 20 - 50 miles, to encourage people to use less fuel transporting food around.People should be able to "pledge" either a certain percentage of a planted or harvested crop, or pledge some labour on the grower's property (sort of like community gardening) or tools and materials (wire netting, compost scraps, etc) in exchange for some of the crop. Additionally, users should be encouraged to share their experiences of what grows well locally, what needs special techniques, and so forth. Within a few years, a site such as this should be able to even out local food production, provide detailed, locality-based advice on what can be grown and how to grow it, and (if advertisers are chosen carefully and with relevance, i.e. home handyman, gardening, nursery, and so forth) be able to produce an income by presenting locally-targeted advertising to users, who can use these ads to find the best local services and materials.It would be a crowdsourced agricultural and GIS dataBASE, as well. This can be stripped of identifying data, and sold/donated to research foundations and government departments to provide detailed knowledge of soil and weather and local plants etc on an ongoing basis. The information provided would give valuable knowledge to such organisations about the health of the ecosphere and the weather systems.On the purely humane side, it would allow a much wider audience to have access to local food, thus strengthening local economies and reducing food miles and handling costs. I think an idea such as this is one of theose things where a large company has nothing to lose by devoting a few resources to it and advertising / publicising it, and then if the site doesn't take off, it's a relatively small loss. If it does take of though, it would establish the green credentials of the company and give them some very good publicity!

An application that reads instructions and directions out loud

I would love to see an application that will verbally give step by step directions on anything. I am terrible, because of patience, at following instructions. The application would allow you to punch in the manual number and it would read a loud step by step instructions. This would include anything from a video game to putting a bed together. I know this would make my life easier as I am better at following along verbally than trying to read and interpret things. Thanks.

In any type education, it is essential the use of interactive notebooks, it would be helpful that electronic notebooks were invented or manufactured, allowing manual writing and connection with books related to the level of education without letting use different programs or applications. With the fulfilment of these conditions it would be avoided the situation of carrying both notebooks and books in a backpack

My idea seems like it would be simple to produce, I came up with it while attending accounting classes online using my laptop. I found it very hard to use the spread sheets that are involved with the programs that are required for this class. Trying to keep up with where I was between looking up at the screen and looking down at the text book, this was a problem I had while using my desktop also. I feel if there was some sort of bar that could be moved up and down the screen to mark my place across the screen this would have helped me complete each spread sheet faster and would have prevented the many headaches I had while taking the class. It's something I feel could be either a attachment made from hard plastic that someone could buy or something that is incorporated within a system that is bought new. It also would be helpful for anyone that keeps their finacial books or business related info by way of spreadsheets and might even could be used with other programs that require the same sort of looking up and down by the user. I enclosed a rough draft photo I drew to give some idea of what I'm talking about.

An electronic or digital blackboard, if invented, would be very helpful to students as sometimes they cannot understand the faculty member's handwriting. Also it will help the faculty member to maintain constant eye contact with students and command their attention and to be more effective in class. A digital or electronic blackboard with a remote or a kind of device which can be operated by hand. What is to be taught in a class has to be preset or pre-programmed in the device such that when a particular button is pressed, a set of statements are reflected on the digital blackboard. For instance, if a faculty member is teaching vocabulary, then upon pressing a particular number or letter in the remote, a set of words would automatically come up on the digital blackboard. This would reduce the time in writing on the conventional blackboard for the faculty member and his time could be more effectively used in interacting with students. Similarly, it can be made for any subject such as Math, or Economics, History, etc., whereby even diagrams come up on the digital blackboard upon pressing pre-set and pre-programmed buttons on the hand-held device. This would help lot of educational insitutions and also corporates in training and other board meetings.

In our daily life we come across the word captcha (completely automated turing test to tell human and robot apart) we have implemented the concept of using the picture captha which appears usually after we enter some worg password (in general ) or in some diff cases ....(what ever it may be) But the only reason to use this picture captha is for security purposes .... etc.. I have thaught of using video captcha which is still in the developing stages by appling various techiniques .... Though we could use this technique in an easy way ( tough i only have a basic structure to implement it ) we could use up the same box as in the picture captchas but with a difference in diplaying a word in a video format as the words would shuffel it self and then display it sefl . the whole waiting time to entrer the word should be only 5-10 sec . after the words again shuffels it self in short should always load a new word video captcha ... the idea behind the jumbled word and animated word is every software with the best case ALGORITHM cannot dedect the video captcha in 10-15 sec .. thought the word gets changed after the alloted time and also most of the softwares could not predect the word wich are jumbled for instance the video captha is as follows apple the word should be Jumblled and then given to user to type as follows: papel (jumbled word not to be displayed ) first we display the user to enter the word as pal the user will enter the word pal after words we tell the user to delete the word and write lpe again we display the whole jumbled word and which get rearranged as apple and the user now cannot delete the lep(entered word ) but could only add words any where by moving the arrow keys as lpe(entered word) consider l(1)p(2)e(3) letters now a(1)P(2)p(3)l(4)and e(5)...... as this method could fool most of the softwares which i have come across and let them come with confusion and stops the further execution.... I got my DELL all in one PC 2320 for my christmas gift just turned 2 years old, now I am 3 years old and I love my pc, by using it I learned how to read and write english, spanish, russina, greek, arabic, japaneese (katakan & hiragana) and some Kanji characters I also know my multipication tables up to 12x12 and basic things like planets, animal cells, periodic table of elements, countries, continents, shapes, colors, animals and some other things. Most of my learning I have achived by my moms dedication but also thanks to my beloved touchscreen. Well I just think that DELL should promote more their computers to be used by kids like me to make us smarter at young age and to make of us the leaders of the future to make of our nation and our planet a better place to live in for every one, and I also think dell could dedicate more effort in the software structure to make it more kids friendly and for our parents tranquility that we wont stumble into un-wanted sites or that we will delete some things when being curious, something like what company call kidsdesktop has but more youtube friendly and powerful. I have worked on an assembly line before and even if you are building super awesome computers, the monotonous repetition can leave you without feeling for the product your building. I suggest letting the customer have the ability to Tip or leave a small gratuity to the line worker or workers responsible. This would bring positive emotions towards the customer and would show we are grateful for the product supplied. It could also promote better quality control, and a sense of accomplishment. Also I would like to see a photo, info or signature of the person or persons responsible for building the order. A personal touch is what's needed in this frigid zeitgeist we currently live in. Windows RT tablets and convertibles with active styluses

I have always found touchscreen laptops without active styluses frustrating. The fact that laptop manufacturers are trying to make laptops more user-friendly, and implementing touchscreens is awesome, but the annotations are just too essential for productivity.One prime use of this is in education. You can't use type to take notes. Sometimes diagrams needed to be drawn and everyone knows how frustrating capacitive screens can be when you have to annotate the diagram. Typing and writing at the same time is an option, but it's hardly ideal. The same go with small businesses.Windows RT comes with Microsoft Office and it could offer the cheapest package in terms of both productivity and entertainment, and people could purchase it as a secondary device.
