I can't seem to find a way to view ideas according to their status (aside from Implemented). If there really is no way to do it yet, how about adding this option?

Too few configuration options (e.g. for high screen res) put buyers off

When looking to buy a laptop, the available configuration options are very limited. There are a few base models to choose from, and it's not possible to customize each base configuration. For example the screen resolution, CPU, RAM and factory-loaded OS are fixed and can't be changed. This can really put potential buyers off, because in order to get a desired feature (e.g. 1920x1080 screen instead of a horrible low-res 1366x768 one) the only choice is a high-end model costing hundreds of dollars more. As opposed to being able to upgrade the screen on a lower-end model for  much less.Take for example the Vostro 3560 page at http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/vostro-3560/pdThere are four base models, priced at $569, $699, $719, $999. Only the $999 one has a 1920x1080 screen. If the $569 model would be fine for me except for its screen, am I going to pay $430 extra for the high-end model? Or am I going to check out competitors' products?Another strange thing is the factory-loaded OS. Only the $719 model has Windows 8, the rest have Windows 7 SP1. So if I buy the $999 high-end model to get the high-res screen, I can't have Windows 8. [Windows 8 Pro includes downgrade rights to Windows 7.]

Industrial Tablet

I provide indusrial automation and end-to-end business solutions to my clients.  The industry lacks a viable industrial tablet suitable for Class I, Div 2 environments, US, Zone 1 internationally.  Put gorilla glass on it,  Otter IP65 case, & WiFi, 4G LTE network,  and Dell would have a hot market for the product...Talk to me

Inbuilt Projector in Laptops

As we know now the screen can be detached from the keyboard itself with the upcoming windows 8 software. When we detach screen from the keyboard. we can use it as a touch screen tablet. but what if a person wants to type something literally and not use the touch pad?Use a inbuild projector on the sides of the screen below. Make the screen stand using the stand given behind and "on" the projector.. it willl display an inbuilt keyboard on the surface. so that you may start typing in itWe can even use the projector to show something onto the screen like showcasing the presentation prepared to show the peopleit will be multiple usage of the projectors inbuilt in the laptopsDIsadvantage would be: Will draw large amounts of power, for which we can try a workaround to save enormous amounts of power being drainedWe can try to have a battery inbuilt separately for the projector only where it will draw power only from that battery.. till it lasts and when charged it will charge that battery as well. Thanks,Adarsh Kumar G M

Have a Reserved battery in laptops

Mar 28, 2013

At times, we would have forgotten to take the charger with us to various places like Airport, or to any public places. We have to work to complete atleast  some amount of the work and the battery percentage left will be just 10%. At this time , what can be done?Simple!! Have a Reserved battery inside just like we have reserved fuel tank in car's and bikes. Atleast we need not worry that we will lose the data worked upon...  we can still work upto 2 hours and then shut down the laptop completely or put a charger to it.When laptop enters reserved battery state, the brightness need to come down as it has to go into power save mode and even internally shut down some of applications being used by the computer, which draws a lot of power so that we can continue to work at ease for atleast the next hour or 2.Thanks,Adarsh Kumar G M

Dell Switch Lids Idea

It would be nice if we can design our own switch lids online on dell.com. Even if it took more time, it would be worth the wait. I, for example, want my initials or nickname to be carved into my switch lid with my favorite color and a design of my personal making. I believe it is a successful idea, also financially speaking.
