Right out the gate let me say, Thank You for this post. We do work hard here at Alienware to ensure that we have the latest offerings and upgrades available to our customers. What we don't do well, at times, is make those upgrades easy to find (as you pointed out above).
I'm happy to say that we are actively engaged in a project to correct this. The project has two components.
First, Dell has completely revamped the content and functionality found at the Parts and Upgrades link off of support.dell.com. (The site can also be found via http://www.dell.com/parts)
This site now includes a by Service Tag path, by system type path or via a slick system analyzer that you can use to find qualified parts for your Dell or Alienware systems. This new tool gives us a very flexible tool set to offer upgrades, replacement parts and services.
Step two is the content. I can tell you that myself and a few other key contributors on the Alienware team are actively engaged with the Parts and Upgrades teams to update the current content. In fact, we've already made a few key additions (The M11x R3 platform was added this week!) and are working to identify and fill in the remaining gaps in our current offerings.
Please be patient with us. The site, with all its new features and abilities, is a new tool for us too so we're still learning what it can do and the best way to bring these items to you. It may take some time to fully realize the vision, but we hope to show steps in the right direction of the coming weeks.
Thanks again for your post Ovittl1490 and we'll see you in the game.
