Over the past fiver years, laptop screen bezels have increased in size from only about a quarter of an inch to around an inch now. All this wasted bezel space could have been used to make a bigger screen. I can probably put a 15" screen in a 14.1" laptop chasis. And even probably a 17" screen in a 15.6" laptop chasis. Reduce the screen bezel size, a large bezel is a backward step in technology. Just compare the C840 (really old laptop): With the latest Latitude E-series: I'm sorry but the latest Latitude series has the largest and ugliest screen bezel ever. Shrink the bezel size please. Look at the latest of what Acer is planning to use: http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/25/acer-said-to-be-using-lg-shuriken-display-in-upcoming-laptop/ They will be using a LG Shurikan display to reduce bezel down to only 8mm as well as thickness down to 4mm. Follow suit Dell. I want to see laptops with smaller screen bezel. Status update: Please see bill_b's comment for further details. Thanks for posting!
Why do you force us to buy laptops with 1366x768 pixels? It is simply absurd in 2011, even was 10 years ago. We only buy because we do not have other option... Dell Status update See Anne_c's comment for further information. Thank you for posting!
why oh why is a 1080p resolution screen not offered on 17inch laptop screens? it is offered on some 15inch but not on 17...surely this is the wrong way around? i have rang and asked for this many times but im always told we have no information...dell really do not give anything away which doesnt feel me with confidence in the company
Dell should offer 2560x1600 displays on 17" laptops. (I mean the built-in display. Many laptops already allow an external display of that size.) Some of us could really use the extra screen real estate, or the higher level of detail, and are not bothered by small pixels or fonts.
The XPS 15 has Full HD. Why not the XPS 17?. It would be the perfect Notebook with a Full HD screen. My 4 year old 17" Inspiron 9400 and also my Studio 17 has Full HD and I love those display so much!! It is great to work with this resolution and watching Blurays on it I would buy the XPS 17 right now if it has Full HD. Please DELL, put Full HD Display in the XPS 17! If DELL will do that then please in Germany, too. Thanks Status Update: Please see bill_b's comment for further details. Thanks for posting!
For your laptops like Alienware and Studio XPS series that cost extra, Dell should include an option for Gorilla Glass instead of the current cheap plastic used. The reason being that wih the Alienware M17x/M15x the trackpad scratches the surface of the plastic edge-to-edge cover so the user has no choice but to call Dell for a warranty replacement--this costs Dell or it's underwriter money. Thus it would be beneficial to both the consumer and Dell if Gorilla Glass was used as an alternative, it's very strong and has gotten quite inexpensive thanks to industry wide adoption. You've already come out with the awesome Studio One 19 with a built-in touch screen monitor, but what if someone wants a touchscreen monitor but not the whole computer? Sell touchscreen monitors instead of just the whole all-in-one computer. Status Update Please check out the new Multi-Touch monitor
Categories: Monitors and Displays,
Currently there is no way to get a small factor laptop (13inch or 12 inch) with higher display resolution than 1280x800. this is valid not only for Dell. I believe most users looking for 13 inch mobile laptop do not want to get stuck with low res display; the reasonable minimum should be 1400x900 (avaliable only on 14inch latitude D630 - optional)Status Update: This idea has been implemented with the updated XPS 13 which has the option of a full HD screen resolution. You can read more about it in this blog post on Direct2Dell. Thank you for posting.
Please stop the glossy display nonsence and provide a non-glare display options for all models. If possible with LED backlight, because it is brighter, thinner and less power consuming. I like the XPS M1330 very much, but the glossy display is a real show stopper... Btw, the glossy finish of the Vostro 1310 case also seems quite pointless to me. Status Update The Vostro A series offers anti-glare screens

I think that in your products there is an absence of 13.3" and 12.1" models. The only low priced 13.3" model is the Vostro 1310. I believe that in this age where mobility is a must, there should be more machines with smaller screen sizes more readily available at a lower price, because there are many people who are travelling around a lot looking for a small screen size for better mobility and a lighter laptop. Thank you for reading my comment and considering my idea. Status Update Check out the Vostro 1220
