The Dell shopping experience is all about Dell -- not the user. Currently, you have to walk through each product line, narrow by model, etc. This isn't very useful to my mom, or anyone new to Dell. Even the latitude/inspiron choice is never explained. Start with features -- walk the user through the choices until they get the perfect PC. What size do you want? What are you going to do with it? Dell List Computer Configuration Options in order not random.

Dell list computer configuration options in an ordered list not random! When configuring a computer a list of options for lets say the processor should be in order based on speed or price, here's an example from the Dell Precision M65: O Intel® Coreâ„¢ 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $37.35] O Intel® Coreâ„¢ 2 Duo processor T7600 (2.33GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $398.40] O Intel® Coreâ„¢ 2 Duo processor T7400 (2.16GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $207.50] O Intel® Coreâ„¢ 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.00GHz/667MHz) Dual Core [add $103.75] * Intel® Coreâ„¢ 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66GHz/667Mhz) [Included in Price] Whats up with this list? Totally confusing or leads to confusion, for the average Joe, yet again today I had to explain that Dell just lists things randomly not in some optimal way. Dell Mini Ubuntu (Linux) Missing Webcam

It would be great if the Dell Mini product site would add back the webcam option for the Unbuntu Linux version of the product. When the site first launched http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-inspiron-9 , both the 0.3 megapixel camera and the 1.3 megapixel camera were available as configuration options, but they have since been dropped from the site when ordering the linux version of the product. Any ideas from Dell on why the change in product offering? Any chance that this will be added back in as a product configuration offering? I have to imagine that the drivers for a webcam are available, and if not, there are plenty of developers who would be interested in building them. Included in this test are desktops, monitors, notebooks and Tablet PCs." Have a 'Send this build to a friend' option on website

 I regularly go on the Dell website to spec-out a computer for friends and family members, but find I either need to take a screenshot or have them standing next to me when I do it, which is completely unnecessary. Once I have finished customising a build, there should be a nice, simple button I can press which allows me to email that spec to somebody else.  Simply copying and pasting the URL doesn't work, as it just reverts back to the default page for that build. You could even take that one step further and have staff spec-out a system for a potential customer if they're afraid to go through the process themself. Status Update:  When you have configured a system and placed it in your cart you now have the option to email it to another party. Thank you for posting!

Put the XPS M1530 with Ubuntu back on the Dell website

On Thursday Dell announced that it would be offering the XPS M1530 with Ubuntu installed. http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2008/08/07/dell-xps-1530n-and-studio-1...
