Hi Cy_J,
I'm hundred percent sure Dell will offer Intel Haswell laptops (so I did not made that request), otherwise AMD CPUs are also fast enough to not notice any performance difference in everyday use. As you can see Intel also noticed CPU performance is not everything, today they do only minor CPU improvements, while greatly improving GPU performance in every year to catch up.
Last years A10-4600M Trinity's APUs point was; great integrated GPU performance near decent enough CPU cores, lower heat generation, lower price point than Intel. What happened?
No one implemented into 13-14" laptops, just because too good to put into those lappy, Who would buy the Intel ones, right? Same thing happened with the earlier Llanos, they were only available in 15-17" laptops, where Intel could offer competitive machines pairing their CPU with discrete GPU.
About performance/power consumption ratio; What is more efficient a single 35W A10 Trinity chip, or a 35W i5 CPU + another 35W Nvidia 630M GPU?
I think many people do not even know Vostro 3555 exist. Fortunatelly HP doing great job, announced AMD Trinity almost in all their categories; G series, M series, Envy series, Sleekbooks, and in Probooks. Apple also planning Trinity Macbook air :).
cabbage31:
I would recommend the 17W and 25W trinity for XPS 13 Ultrathin and the 35W Trinity for all regular sized 11-14" laptops. For 15-17" laptops Intel cpu + discrete graphics is the best.
I really like your idea, nothing could be better than a Trinity based fully featured thin Latitude. However there were already posted many similar ideas during the years:
and we got only a big Vostro 3555. It is better than nothing, but a 35W APU could work flawlessly in a Latitude E6320 or in a Vostro V131 (even thinner body) without heating and making too much noise.
Funny that my 15" Vostro 3555 has maximum 1366x768 screen resolution, while 9.7" Apple Ipad 3 tablets comes with 2048x1536 pixels. I start to understand why laptops loosing market share...
I've seen the new XPS14z review at notebookcheck and I think you could bring out a much more impressive laptop if you follow my Idea.
First of all: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M+1366x768 Pixel=FAIL. This discreet card is barely better than the Intel's IGP. 3DMark 11=562 Punkte. Come on Dell it is a $1000 laptop!!! Poor connectivity, high temperature.... I like the 14 inch screen in 13inch body, but I'll rather buy few more Vostro...

Implement also AMD graphics, like all consoles have done it!

Forget 1366x768 pixels resolution, we hate it!
