I think the Alienware Alpha pretty much sums that up and there are lots of emulators online for gameboy games.

Fix Alienware 17 Fan Tables

Thu Dec 18 21:18:02 GMT 2014 - 3 days ago

Third-party thermal paste is an option but one that will not help as much. The temp drops would not be as significant as having the fans run at 100% instead of ~60%. They would also need to pick a paste that for sure couldn't cause damage so CLU and IC Diamond are out, AC5 is pretty old and not great. They would also need to have someone applying it correctly and considering the factory paste application quality you'd probably still need to repaste it. Enthusiasts that care about getting the lowest temps and highest clocks would repaste anyways as well.

A mobile studio/device for artists

Tue Dec 09 21:21:11 GMT 2014 - Dec 9, 2014

Ya a number of years ago I had the idea of having a laptop but without a keyboad and instead a touchscreen tablet. There was a company that had one out back then and figured they had a patent I can't recall their name but I've now seen a couple of other ones out there one notably by Acer - http://www.cnet.com/news/acers-dual-touch-screen-iconia-laptop-reviewed/   This ones a dual touchscreen laptop but it has a good start but there a couple things that could be changed to make this work for multimedia design and creation. First off the second touchscreen only works as a keyboard this would have to work as a tablet would. It would be nice if this tablet lso had a number of workspaces programmed into it or make it possible to create your own work space.
There is a controller out there (which gave this idea initally) that is a midi and audio controller its called the Jazz Mutant Lemur - http://www.jazzmutant.com/lemur_overview.php Now this allows you to create your own control surface on it touchscreen and use it to control your music software. Like you can add faders to control your fader tracks, x,y boxes to control your effects and 2 knobs at once, matrix editor for programming midi or to use to program your drum tracks like a drum machine, and I guess the real point here is you can create your own workspace to do what you want it to do and switch between several of them!

So I was thinking of the same thing but with Drawing, Drafting, and Photoshop in mind. Where can create a custom workspace for any of your programs - so in photoshop if you want to cut out a picture you can put that on the "keyboard" touchscreen so you can visibly track along the object and cut it out by like drawing on it. This would also be great for people who  draw or draft it would be like those really good Wacoms where the picture your drawing is displayed on the tablet so you can see what your drawing on.

It would also be nice if it came with some physical button on the side to switch between the workspaces you've created quickly. Like go from a keyboard (maybe even on with a virtual touchpad if you like a mouse and clicking) to a photoshop workspace to any number of workspaces you have for your drafting or 3d modelling or drawing! You could also maybe create workspace with faders and knobs and x,y pads. I know photoshop has a number of slider based parameters you can adjust so creating a workspace with these sliders pre assigned to the paremeters you'd typically adjust could help improve workflow, same with all the other programs (music software isnt the only thing that has to work this way anything with parameters can be assigned to a knob or a fader or coupled into a x,y pad)

Anyway as you can see I've had a number of thoughts on the idea since it's a few years old but if someone was good enough to build one - you know without delay and compatible with all stylus, and a dynamic customizable interface, I think it could cross all markets of media creation from music to photos, to Corel drawing, Drafting, 3d modeling and rendering, to even web design!

Wyse thin client (WTOS or zero client) laptop with 18.4" screen ***or larger***

Tue Dec 09 20:40:29 GMT 2014 - Dec 9, 2014

WHy wouldn't you network the power you need on the cart centrally and then use a portable terminal? This would be cost effective and you can stream or just transfer the data to like a tablet so all you would need is the tablet connected to the network which does all the work. I'm not sure if you'd still need an 18" screen to just read a chart but maybe someone will manufacture one for this purpose. I know there are ways of scanning barcodes mobily where you wouldn't need a 100lb cart.

Alienware Graphics Amplifier for Alienware 18 & 17

Sun Dec 07 05:01:01 GMT 2014 - Dec 7, 2014

You need consistency with your ideas. You made an idea about having the GTX 900m series in the Alienware laptops (implying soon), yet you comment saying it is fine when Skylake releases (2H of 2015). I don't follow. Wouldn't it be better to release the 900m series shortly after CES 2015/ PAX South? WHile Haswell processors may still be used (Broadwell-H wouldn't ship for a few months later)
I think it would be wise to read this as to why Alienware went with properitary PCI-E as opposed to Thunderbolt.
I'm not saying the idea is bad, but it's already inevitable (alienware has already said on Facebook and Twitter than future laptops will support the GA). Just not through Thunderbolt.

Alienware Graphics Amplifier for Alienware 18 & 17

@User7a1 : It's just an estimation or a prediction. A lot of new technologies such as SATA Express, Intel Skylake, mobile DDR4 might be released and widely adopted in 2015. Thus, 2015 would be the best year for Dell to release Alienware refresh. I believe that Dell and Alienware are cooking something right now.

Thunderbolt is more suitable than AGA port. It is more compact and smaller than AGA port. Also, Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt ports will be 3mm smaller than the current ports are. That'll enable Dell to install multiple Thunderbolt ports in a single Alienware laptop. Yet the most important factor is that Thunderbolt supports hot plugging while the current AGA requires users to restart their systems when attaching or detaching AGA.
