@tekhawk - the folks who've been regular users since the early days all know about the "start a new conversation" option. They used to use it a lot, and then back in late spring, the community discussed and voted on not wanting it around anymore. The reason is that it's not an easy place to get into (can only get there from the "comments" page), and there were people accidently posting ideas in the "forum" area... so those ideas weren't being seen... until I contacted them and had them re-post as an idea. So as a result of community feedback, I have turned on the prior moderation for any posts to the "start a new conversation" - it gets about 5 posts a week... mostly new people accidentally posting ideas there, or regulars who use it to communicate with me.
I know that's a lot of background, but wanted you to be aware of the history. You can use it if you want to, but it will always be prior-moderated to prevent ideas from getting mixed in, and you'll find that people won't join the conversation much because it's not very visible. Just my 2 cents based on my experience, but we'll see. Thanks.
