Medical Ideas

90 points posted to Healthcare by roberto Jan 17

This idea involve a product that will help physicians, insucrance company and government to have better accountability for the medical care of our community. Some companies have programs called EMR(Electronic Medical Record) but few survive due to the expense that is involved in upgrading and maintenance. Dell Corporation can provide EMR geared to different medical specialties and be able to communicate with insurance companies and government agencies. Product could be expanded to incude local pharmacies and allow to submit prescriptions at the time of the visit, verify that is approved by the insurance company and be able to pick up prescription in a timely manner, This product will be of benefits to all parties. Any thoughts?

your idea is mostly for an inclusive software package to manage patient data and aceess to care and reatment. There are already many software tools out there that do this, having working in the medical field i can tell you the top problems are training, security and protecting patient data.

While i agree with your idea, Dell builds computers and servers, Dell doesnt write the software.

Scenario over here ie Tamil Nadu Govt: Actually we have a limited Medical allowance of Rs. 10,000 / year for the ground level workers and Rs.15,000 / year for the Top level Executives & other Management Board. Hence each and every individual will have to be paid that amount by default.

Hence couldnt actually get what you mean by the following "Product could be expanded to incude local pharmacies and allow to submit prescriptions at the time of the visit, verify that is approved by the insurance company and be able to pick up prescription in a timely manner"

@ Roberto could you plz send your counter response so that I can learn from you

As I mentioned before, only a few reliable companies have EMR capabilities. Dell can work with a software company and create EMRs geared for subspecialties. Most EMRs are for family practice, pediatrics or internal medicine physicians. Few or none are for subspecialties. I do believe that in the future the government and insurance companies will require better accountability. No program exist that can communicate between doctors and insurance companies/government. In addition, when physicians write prescriptions for patients it is only after the patient takes the prescription to the pharmacy that they realized it is not covered under the insurance plan. By having a program that connects EMR from the physician's office, the health care provider will know immediately if medication is covered under the insurance plan and the patient will be able to get the medication in a timely manner. So much can be done but no one is willing to do it. I do not have the software expertise or the capital to adventure into this project, but I do have some medical background.
So much to discuss about this project but I am not so proficient in typing. Are these ideas only posted for viewing by the public? Any Dell executive reviews any of these ideas?

The scenario over here: Every organization will provide it's employees with health insurance cards, ie ttk health cards etc, The policy details extended to the employees will hold information like the

1. the list of hospitals covered under the insurance plan, ie for eye ...a specific hospital, for immediate hospitalization TVS Sundaram Home foundation, etc etc..
2. The list of ailments covered etc etc...
2. Since we are eligible for the default prescribed medical reimbursement per year ie 10,000 -15,000 going ahead to check the details is a waste of time and it will irritate the employees. If they provide any bills above the prescribed limit it will not be reimbursed to them as simple as that.

@ Roberto- whatever idea you have suggested can be applicable for lifelong patients, it will surely ease their agonies. Maintaining records with a co ordinating report from the Physician & health care provider will help maintain a pucca follow up of the employee details pertaining to health care.

You are good in typing, just provide hints...so that we can discuss and finally draft a plan lay out to help you extend your project plans for Dell if you dont mind plz....

Petzymathuram: Are you part of Dell Corporation? How would you help to prepare a final draft for Dell? Do you have a medical background that understands the health system? Does Dell Corporation has a medical staff(ie-doctors, nurses, personnel with medical office management experience) that will understand the whole concept of EMR and its future implications within government and insurance companies? Please clarify.

Hi Roberto, I don't belong to any Dell Corporation, or any process associated with Dell. just because you have stated that "So much to discuss about this project but I am not so proficient in typing" I just requested you to give hints over here, so that your idea gets into a proper shape. Mostly in Ideastorm when an idea is posted, each and every person gives a comment and perhaps may end it fine. Likewise, I requested you to do the same. I have never taken any ownership over here. I have just mentioned "You are good in typing, just provide hints...so that we can discuss and finally draft a plan lay out to help you extend your project plans for Dell if you dont mind plz.... "

I really dont have any idea what this Dell is upto or whether they have any medical staff is associated with them. I have a science background and i thought I would help you by posting a few comments over here as a part of the discussion.
Is my clarification sufficient?
