Dell XPS One Graphics Accelerator Weakness for Gamers

180 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), Gaming, XPS products by fahdriyami Jan 6

When the XPS One was first release i thought it was something new and amazing from Dell, i immediatly started thinking about how gamers would enjoy playing on this system, i was also curious to find out what graphic accelerator it used, unfourtunatly, i was very dissapointed by the HD 2400, it is a good and reliable card that is completely HD compatible but it does not fulfill gaming needs, i think Dell should introduce more options, like the Nvidia mobile series video cards, at least the 8600 GS/GT would make a noticable difference in gaming, or make it extreme and introduce the 8800M series and maybe SLI! That would really make a difference and would definately make an improvement i sales in my opinion. Incase Dell would like to keep using ATI on this system, you could instead introduce the new Mobility Radeon HD 3000 Series...

The machine isn't targeted to serious gamers.

All XPS systems are not gaming systems. Think of XPS as a targeted product line. Instead of having one system to appeal to everyone, Each XPS targets a different niche. XPS 720 and 1710/1730 for gamers, XPS One and XPS 420 for multimedia, and XPS 1330 and 1530 for the style conscious power user.

dell has done nothing but confuse customers with its XPS line. In the beginning the XPS line was
stictly gaming pc's now everything they come out with is xps this or xps that and they've got people
wondering is this pc for what I want or not. they should keep the xps line for gaming and use a new
line for normal personal use

Possibly. But XPS was never sold as a pure gaming line. Even Alienware, Voodoo PC sell systems that are not gaming centric.
You still have to do your research, look at the specs, etc. But when you buy XPS, you know you are getting something special.
Now, I will agree that a few XPS systems were not well though out before release, but so far, the recent systems have been a real credit to the name.

but so far, the recent systems have been a real credit to the name.

a short time ago there were about 300 xps 420's in the dell factory outlet for various reasons I don't
think that bodes well for the xps name!

yes, all im saying is to have the "option" for these VGA's, i should have meationed that in the title, if your a gamer, you could just imagine how it would feel like to game on this system, its just a beautiful and fantastic thought.

The XPS should definitely offer a SLI connection option.

Fargo, 300 seems like a lot to you and me, but to Dell, that is probably less than an hour of sales.

I wonder if Dell could offer a gaming edition of this system, that would be awsome, Core2 Extreme mobile, 8800M SLi, i think im going crazy!!!

Exactly. 8800M GTX, baby. Then you'd have my attention. It could actually be a competing concept to the mobile workstation/gaming rigs like my XPS 1730.

Yes, but on opening day you apparently can't get it with blu-ray, which is ridiculous. Just like your original post says, though, they need to put that card in more of their thin models, though.
