UPDATE the Graphics Card of XPS 1530

530 points posted to Accessories (Keyboards, etc.), XPS products by bryan14c 12/22/07

Hp had an update of their 8600gs graphics card and still DELL has a 256mb 8600gt , why not upgrade it to 512mb plus using DDR3 and still even though there is a 256mb option at least it will be DDR3 in it, well DELL must update the XPS 1530 with a 8600gt 512mb DDR3 graphics Card

Yeah. Also why not take it up a notch to 8700GT or 8800GTS?

I've been reading that the bench marks of the xps m1530 are pretty high. There are threads floating around on message boards saying it is DDR3 even though the specs don't list it. I wonder if anyone from Dell can confirm. As for a 512mb, I don't know if it will fit in that slim profile without 'causing problems.

I agree a better graphics card should be there! I think a Mobile version of the ATI RV670 chip should be an option on this laptop, as it has low power already on the desktop, performance should still be quite good on a notebook version, possibly better than the newly announced 8800m-gtx! I would buy it instantly if there was a better option!

I'd love to see an 8800M GTX in the XPS M1530, but I think it's far too thin to house that kind of GPU. It could definately take the 8700M GT though.

100 % percent agree. Games are just getting more and more advanced along with programs, so why not upgrade the cards to go along with the tide?
