Give us the OPTION to sort ideas by score.

Dell already allows people to sort by category (i.e., Dell, IdeaStorm, Software, etc.), and by the person who submitted it (i.e., show only ideas submitted by a certain user), and cosh suggested sorting by Dell-assigned tags (i.e., **NOT NOW**, **IMPLEMENTED**, **UNDER REVIEW**, etc.)

However, the ideas with the higher scores go down the list as they become older, and thus become more and more hidden in the site and their top spots are taken by ideas with significantly smaller scores. Thus, some people will never see the top ideas unless the browse though tens if not hundreds of pages to get to the top ideas or throgh a link in an idea or a comment.

Therefore, I suggest that Dell allow us to sort by score like this:

Less than 0
0 to 100
100 to 250
250 to 500
500 to 750
750 to 1000
1000 to 2500
2500 to 5000
5000 to 7500
7500 to 10000
10000 to 25000
25000 to 50000
More than 50000

As jervis961 noticed in his idea concerning the halflife formula for calculating the position of an idea in the site, ideas get visible in the first few pages only for some time, and after that some might never see the idea again except by browsing for a long time or through a link in an idea or a comment. So I suggest that Dell allow us to sort by score to see the ideas with the highest scores (or ideas in any score range actually) easily.

The ranges themselves might need tweaking a bit. There's 3,449 ideas in the 100 to 500 points range.

dwood, my apologies for duplicating your idea. I had no knowledge of its existence. Now when I attempt to post an idea, IdeaStorm tries to prevent duplicates by showing me a list of ideas so that I can see that none of them are being duplicated. Unfortunately, of the three that I seen, yours has not been in the list.

cosh, how do you know that there are exactly 3,449 ideas in that range and not something else? Do not worry, I changed it a bit so that it is now 100 to 250 and 250 to 500. What is your opinion now?

cosh's site.

I have all sorts of obscure statistics, even if they're always a little out of date. You can enter parameters like this in the url. There are (approximately) two and a half thousand ideas from 100 to 250 and another thousand from 251 to 500! Crazy huh?!

There's also a list of different ranges available, but I never found it to be very useful, so I never made a link to it. There's also something of a chart showing distribution by score on this page, about a third of the way down.

partially implemented by top ideas and pagination

Actually it is "filter ideas by score", not sort.
