Idea Teams

170 points posted to IdeaStorm by dwood 11/10/07

We should be allowed to start "teams" of users that work together to form ideas that members can actively send ideas back and forth for editing and revision, or members send ideas only viewable by that team in order to get more refined ideas so that they can be better than 'rough' ideas that leave all of the kinks worked out (not in code, but in options in that idea)

one example of a "rough" idea would be this one.

that is a really good idea, we have teams that gang up to work on new products all specifications and etc...good idea :)

We have that already! Just add the comment you want to change in the comments and if the idea poster thinks its good they change the idea, I've done it and so have others, so

***** PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED ***** (IdeaStorm Member status update)

Now we just have to agree to provide the brain storming comments as such and it will be moved to IMPLEMENTED!

At this point I will start adding status updates to ideas, I am not happy with the currently provided method of status updating and feel we should take it over. NEW IDEA!

The concept of idea teams is a good one. But then this is starting to feel like a job I'm not being paid for.

true..... but its fun, is it not? this site is run like a business, More like a forums that you get points for posts that people like. Its becoming very addicting.

This site is part of a business and exists to meet the needs of that business. When Dell decide IdeaStorm is no longer worth the money IdeaStorm will cease to exist.

lol, i still like the fact or working in teams....it would make some people get very compeditive...maybe they could hold a compeititon for the teams to design and make a Product with all specs and etc...done and whoever dell likes the best they get a free prize for every member on the team?

If they hold a competition then who ever wins should have their idea implemented.

and get the product free of charge for putting a tone of effort into it and the other teams that didn't get their's implemented or whatever still get a little gift of some sort.

yep. What in it for me? Virtual Points? No rewards for an idea that Dell makes profit off of? seriously. Whats the point of Ideastorm if we dont get rewarded for the ideas that are good and make Dell profit?

I already put together a great product for them mostly my own but added things as I saw them here. Like jorge said partially implimented. Its not so much working as a team but more going back and tweaking your own as you go.

i know, but BEFORE it affects your point score, so that when one feels they have a competent idea, it can get out into the middle of ideastorm to become under scrutiny from every user, and if they dont like it, points go down for that user because that idea was already tested in a team.

Like when all members thumbs-up an idea, it can get posted to every one else, like a business ad.

I'll stay solo then but hey if you want to try it just exchange emails with someone until you get it right.

Well we've all already have given feed back in one way or another, sometimes constructive some times destructive, both can be used to modify an idea to get more exposure or possibly looked at by a supposed Dell manager and definitely a competitor company.

s'ok, i sent a email to dell last night to tell them that that was my idea, and chris stole it, it doesn't really matter.. If they implmement it , it will make me happy to see something i made up :)

what if I said that ideas submitted are for the team, not for the individual user who first put that idea in the team, therefore, no one can technically take it, and its not viewable to anyone but the team until..... everyone has thumbs-upped (in the team) on the idea.

Chris stole your idea? How childish of him. Kick him in the nads. A healthy dose of violence is the answer. Kinda ironic though. I was just watching a video on the Google YouTube channel where Linus Torvalds was talking about git and how it only works as a distributed system because of something he calls "network of trust". Clearly Chris can't be trusted.

Idea teams are a good idea. But only if you can trust the people you're working with. I don't know anybody here that well. Guess I'll be staying solo.

Collaborative Ideation! Good jargon, I suppose. I like the sound of this idea. Collaborative Ideation is created through Trust and Integrity between Teams!!!
