Brain Storm: Program File Misfires

-10 points posted to by preciousone11 11/09/07

After logon, once all my programs and applications populate to my desktop, the Dell Media Program Folder populates to my desktop without my urging or accessing the folder. The address reads C:/Programfile/dell
I tried cleanning my registry, but it did not correct the path of the folder. I tried changing the path to Documents and Settings and the folder continues to populate without me requesting.
Perhaps, someone can Brain Storm this problem. I am at my wits end. A bit of Information: Recently installed the Dell Automatic Tuneup Service. Problem had not occurred prior to the new installation. The file is a Dell Media file which consist of media Drivers, and other kinds of Drivers.
I would like to prevent this file or folder from automatically poping up on my desktop. Yes, it behaves like a Popup.

Thanks davmcn, new software and a few bugs to work out yet. All in all, I found two minor inconveniences. I did place a post on the forum. If and when there is a work a round or fix, I`l post it here.

Jorge,
I dont know how to respond to your suggestion. For a second, silly me; I thought to Delete the folder, but the folder contains drivers, system profilers, and other items that seem to have importance in the Dell Media unit of my system. I do Thank you for you time and effort, but the haste would most diffinitely create waste.

Thanks for the information. I did not know there was a universal systemic problem in the Dell computing network. As I sought out solutions to my problem, I inadvertedly remove a Record Now driver and loss connection with Dell. I had to uninstall Record Now drivers, then reinstall the drivers to have connectivity with Dell. It worked, but I did not prevent the folder from openning on my desktop without prompting or premission. Again, thank you for the information.

Davmcn,
Thanks for your time and effort, and I hope you soon remember that Link, it might help. I dont use Vista, but perhaps I can find some information that might work. I was given a site in which I would have to tweak my registry, but the know-how given instructed a performance that already existed in the entry. The instructions suggested adding Quotation Marks that already existed, so I removed the Quotes, and I was just about to perform a Restart before I got your suggestion, so I will take my leave, perfore the Restart, then return to Cyberspace to get my problem solve. Again, Thank You.

@preciousone11 : I was just saying to uninstall the Dell preinstalled software, just go to the Control Panel->Add Remove Software and look for anything with the word Dell in it. Or you can install the software internet famous for doing that for you "Dell Decrapifier" or do a google search to satisfy any questions you may have about it.

Preciousone11, I posted on the forum and got a responce from Forum member Tomron. I had to go into the registry for the fix. Depending on your pc knowledge, you might not want to tamper with the registry. http://windowsxp.mvps.org/dellfolder.htm This did fix the problem for me.
